If you received a Telstra self-installation kit, it means you’re in a Fibre to the Node nbn™ network area and you’re able to migrate your services.
The equipment to set up a Fibre to the Node connection does not need professional installation or an nbn co technician to go to your address. It’s all in the kit provided, and it’s compatible with your existing services.
Can I install the kit myself?
Yes - you can install the equipment yourself just by following the instructions in the kit.
Once you’ve installed the equipment, Telstra will organise your switch to the nbn network remotely. This can take up to 3 weeks. We’ll notify you via email once it’s complete.
While this process takes place, you will still be able to use your existing service.

Please note: by installing this equipment yourself, you are agreeing to switch your phone and internet service to the nbn network.
Will I need to pay more to move to a service on the nbn network?
If you’re in a Fibre to the Node nbn network area and your service is moved to the nbn network, in many cases you’ll stay on your current plan and contract terms, meaning you wouldn’t pay any more.

Do I have to install the kit myself?
No - you don’t have to install the equipment yourself or stay on your existing plan if you don’t want to. Instead, you can call us on 1800 834 273 to discuss alternative options for connecting to the nbn network.
