If you see a message ‘HDCP unauthorized. Content disabled’, the TV does not support the proper content protection technology, called HDCP. HDCP is the required industry standard for preventing illegal copying of digital audio and video content over an HDMI® cable link. If your TV does not support HDCP and you try to play a video, you may see a purple screens. This may also be the result of another issue, such as a faulty HDMI cable or HDMI connector.
Try following the steps below to resolve the HDCP error.
- On both your Telstra TV and your TV, unplug each end of the HDMI cable.
- Power off your TV and your Telstra TV and unplug their respective power supplies.
- Reconnect both ends of the HDMI cable, pushing them firmly, all the way in.
- Reconnect your TV and your Telstra TV to their power supplies and power them on.
- Try viewing the video again.
If the above did not resolve your issue, try these additional suggestions:
- Try a different HDMI input on your TV.
- Use a different HDMI cable (less than 6 feet if available), to make sure the cable you are currently using does not have any defects.
- If you are using an HDMI switch, try connecting the Telstra TV directly to the TV.
- Try another TV, if possible.
- If you are using a computer monitor, try using a TV, if possible.
- Try using different display settings on your Telstra TV. You can find these settings under ‘Settings > Display type’.
- If this is the first time you are seeing this HDCP purple screen after setting up your Telstra TV, ensure that your TV supports HDCP. Contact your equipment manufacturer for more information.
