Update your browser to stay safe online

If you're seeing this message, you may need to update your browser.

Without the most up-to-date version of your browser, you may be more vulnerable to cybersecurity threats, such as viruses and ransomware.

You also may have problems viewing our latest site features, as Telstra's website does not support outdated browsers. Find out more about staying safe online.

This article explains the different email technologies and gives you the server names and port numbers you need to set up your Telstra Mail® email manually.

What’s the difference between IMAP and POP?

IMAP and POP both let you download emails to your phone, computer or tablet. The difference is:

IMAP syncs your email with the email server. So anything you do to your emails – like reply, delete or mark as read – will be updated on all your devices;

POP doesn’t sync your email with the mail server. So anything you do to your email will only appear on that device.

Good to know:

  • If you're switching from using POP to IMAP, any folders you have set up in POP will be lost.
  • To keep these folders, log into Webmail and re-create them before you change over.
  • IMAP is the recommended setting for Telstra Mail customers.

Can I get help setting up IMAP or POP?
