    Frequently asked questions

    • Your username is your Telstra email address - ending in @bigpond.com@bigpond.net.au or @telstra.com.
    • Your password is case sensitive. If you’ve forgotten your password: reset your password.

IMAP and POP both let you download emails to your phone, computer or tablet. The difference is:

    • IMAP syncs your email with the email server. Anything you do to your emails: like reply, delete or mark as read will be updated on all your devices.
    • POP doesn’t sync your email with the mail server. Anything you do to your email: like reply, delete or mark as read will only happen on that device.

If your emails are not syncing between your devices, you’ll need to check which incoming server setting you have configured.

POP allows emails to be downloaded and viewed only on a single device. IMAP allows emails to be synced across multiple devices and applications.

To check if you have IMAP or POP:

    1. Go to incoming server settings
    2. Select your advanced settings and check whether POP or IMAP is configured
    3. If POP is configured, you’ll need to remove your email account entirely. All POP folders and emails will be lost if switching to IMAP. To save them, sign in to webmail and re-create the folders before re-adding your email account to your mail app.

To set up your email account with IMAP incoming server settings:

    1. Once you’ve saved your emails go to mail app setup instructions to add your email account to your preferred mail app using our IMAP incoming server settings.
    Important

If you're switching from using POP to IMAP, your POP folder setup and emails will be lost if you don’t’ save them.
