Telstra TV works with Google Assistant, creating a whole new way to experience Telstra TV by just using your voice.

  • Turn on Telstra TV:
          “Hey Google, Turn on Telstra TV”
 
  • Launch apps on Telstra TV:

          “Hey Google, Launch 7plus on the Telstra TV”

 

  • Control playback on Telstra TV, such as pause, stop and resume play:

          “Hey Google, Pause the Telstra TV”

 

  • Tune to a specific live TV channel on Telstra TV (only available with Telstra TV2:

          “Hey Google, Play Channel 7 on the Telstra TV”


To get started you’ll need to pair your Telstra TV (1 or 2) to your Google Home application using your Google Assistant supported device.

How to pair your Telstra TV with Google Home/Google Home Mini

Ensure you’ve set up your Google Home device and installed the Google Home app prior to use

 

  1. Open the Google Home App and select to “Add” a new device
  2. Select the “Set up device” option
  3. Select the “Have something already set up?” option
  4. Scroll down until you see Telstra TV
  5. Add Telstra TV
  6. Instructions on how to link your device
  7. Turn on the Telstra TV, navigate all the way to the bottom of the home screen and select the “Voice Linking” option
  8. Retrieve the Voice Linking code
  9. Enter the Voice Linking Code and Link your Telstra TV to Google Home
  10. Select the Telstra TV device to optionally assign your Telstra TV to a room
  11. Select the room your Telstra TV is in
  12. Confirm your Telstra TV device has been added

Can I pair multiple Telstra TVs to my Google Home setup?

No, only one device is supported at this stage.

How to control your Telstra TV with Google Assistant:

When controlling the Telstra TV using Google Assistant, you will need to use some key phrase components to make sure Google Assistant understands what you are asking for.

Your phrase must include the following components:

  1. Wake: “Hey Google” or “Okay Google”
  2. Command: “Turn on”
  3. Device name: “the Telstra TV”
