What is Deputy?
Deputy is an employee scheduling & workforce management software application which aims to make running your business easy.
Does it cost anything to get the Deputy app?
The Deputy application is free however data charges may apply to download the app to your devices
You will be charged for user licences. SMS charges apply(excludes Enterprise Pre-paid plans).
What does active employee mean?
Active employees are those who are working for you. In the Flexible Weekly Plan, you do not pay for inactive employees. Deputy deems an employee active on the following occurrences taking place:
- A shift has been published for the employee.
- A timesheet has been submitted for the employee.
- The employee has performed management functions such as Rostering, Managing Timesheets, Exporting Payroll information, Managing Tasks, Creating Journal Entries or Reviewing Reports.
What about terminated/discarded staff?
Terminated/Discarded employees are not charged in any of the plans. Discarded staff cannot be rostered or have any interaction in Deputy. However, their history is retained and can be re-instated them any time.
What if I need to change my plan suddenly, will I incur fees?
You can elect to change your plan at any time in either direction without penalty. Simply choose the plan you wish to be on and click confirm, the plan change will take effect immediately. We will bill you on the new plan in the next billing run. You will see this change reflected in your next Tax invoice/Statement.
Am I going to get billed weekly or monthly?
- Premium plan calculates usage based on highest number of registered employees in a calendar month by Telstra via the AppDirect metered usage API.
- SMS charges apply
- For Flexible Weekly and Enterprise Flexi plans, the number of licences are calculated weekly and billed calendar monthly by Telstra via the AppDirect metered usage API
- SMS charges apply
- Enterprise Pre-paid Plans are available only via the TAM hidden catalogue.
- Customer is charged quarterly (3 month payment) in advance
- Any additional charges are billed at the end of the relevant quarter (example- overage charges)
- SMS included for pre-paid plans (faire use policy apply)
What happens when my trial ends?
If you don’t renew your subscription at the expiry of your trial period, the account will be suspended for 14 days. After 14 days the account will be cancelled.
How about SMS charges?
SMS messages are free during the trial period (subject to fair use), so you can experience the full functionality of Deputy.
Once trial is over customers will be charged 0.055 inc GST/ per SMS (excludes Enterprise Pre-Paid plans)

You can check the status of all the Deputy services at http://status.deputy.com/
