Can I upgrade my phone?
You can upgrade your phone 12 months after the start of your contract if you have a Business Lease Plan, even if your phone is damaged.
If you have Business Lease Assure, you can upgrade your phone sooner.
To upgrade you’ll need to take out a new eligible 24 month plan.
What do I need to upgrade?
- Your phone’s IMEI number. You can find your IMEI multiple ways:
For Android:- Dial * # 0 6 #
- In Settings, select About Device then Status
- Look under the battery
- Check the original box
For iPhone:
- Dial * # 0 6 #
- In Settings, select About Device then Status
- On the SIM card tray or back of the phone, depending on your model.
- Your lease expiry date
- Whether you have Business Lease Assure
How do I upgrade?
You can call 13 22 00, visit a Telstra store or select Upgrade now on the Business Lease Plan page.
How much does it cost to upgrade?
When you place an order to upgrade your phone, we’ll conduct an assessment of its condition. The assessment will determine whether it’s:
- in good working order
- has minor damage and/or cracked screen
- is damaged beyond repair.

You’ll need to return your current phone in good working order within 14 days of new your lease plan. If you don’t return it, we’ll charge you the Fair Market Value of the phone plus 20%.
When you upgrade online or over the phone, we’ll send you a return satchel so you can you’re your current phone back to us.
When you upgrade in-store you can leave your current phone with our staff.
If your current phone was replaced under warranty or insurance, you’ll need to show us a receipt or proof of replacement.
What’s Business Lease Assure?
When you take out your Business Lease Plan you have the option to add Business Lease Assure to your plan. Assure lets you upgrade your phone at any time during your contract, regardless of damage.
