Telstra 5G Home Internet can deliver 336Mbps typical busy period download speeds (7-11pm), which is very fast. The typical download speed range is 50Mbps to 600Mbps, with 44Mbps typical busy period upload speed between 7-11pm (typical upload speed range 10Mbps to 90Mbps).
Our 5G Internet plan now includes a new Telstra 5G Internet Modem 2. The typical speed information displayed here is for accessing the 5G Internet plan using an older modem. We have included these speeds to help give you an idea of what our 5G Internet services have been capable of in the past. We’re still calculating typical speeds with the new modem. The speeds experienced may be slower over a Wi-Fi connection and can also be impacted by other factors.
If you download your games 5G Home Internet can be a great option. But if you’re an online gamer and serious about possible latency, where every millisecond matters, this may not be the plan for you.
Note: our 5G Home Internet plan includes 1000GB super-fast data per month. Most households use less than half that in a month.

We'll let you know when you've hit 50, 85 and 100% of your super-fast data. If you go over your data allowance, you won’t be charged extra, but your download speed will be slowed to 25Mbps and your upload speed to 5Mbps.

25Mbps download speeds are good for small households with 1-3 people using multiple connected devices. Meaning you can:
- Work and study online while others browse.
- Stream videos in Standard Definition (480p).
Your plan does not include a phone line. You will not be able to make or receive calls, or support a lift or medical or security alarm which relies on a phone line to operate.
5G Home Internet services are limited by the amount of capacity available to service your area and the number of people in it. If the maximum capacity for 5G Home Internet in your area has been reached, then you won’t get the best possible experience. If this is the case, we won’t be able to complete your 5G Home Internet order.

Although 5G is in your area and accessible with your mobile, we can only offer 5G Home Internet when there is sufficient capacity to provide the best speeds designed for our 5G Home Internet plan and give you the best experience possible.

We don’t recommend running the 5G Home Internet and your existing home internet service at the same time, as the two Wi-Fi networks can interfere with each other and cause device connection issues. We recommend you unplug your old modem completely while you set up your new Telstra 5G Internet Modem 2.
Once you are happy with your 5G Home Internet then we recommend you cancel your old internet service to avoid paying for two services at the same time. You can try your first month for $1 so you can decide whether 5G Home Internet is right for you. Then $85/mth. If you leave within 24 months, return your modem to avoid a non-return fee.
No, your Telstra 5G Internet Modem 2 is geo-locked to your home’s location, which means you can only use the 5G Home Internet service at that address.
If you are moving to a new address, you'll need to cancel your existing 5G Home Internet service and order a new one.
5G Home Internet Plan
Service availability: Service not available to all areas or all premises. Initial checks may show you are eligible for this service however actual availability will be confirmed after order.
Voice services: This plan does not include a fixed voice service and you will not be able to use it to make or receive calls or support a lift, security or medical alarm.
Speed: Speeds experienced may be slower over Wi-Fi and can also be impacted by other factors such as the distance and line of sight between the serving 5G mobile tower and the modem, the number of users online, where your modem is located and how far you are from it, weather, congestions and your in-home set up.
Data allowance: Once you exceed your included data allowance, your download speed will be capped at 25Mbps, and slowed further in busy periods until your next billing month. There is no option to top up your data or move to a higher data plan.
Cancellation: If you cancel your plan in the first 24 months your modem must be returned via our eParcel service (we will provide details in an email to you once you cancel) in good working order within 21 days of cancellation or you may be charged a $400 non-return fee.
