Eligible customers who take up a Telstra Upfront Light, Basic, Bundle, Essential or Premium Mobile Plan will receive a 10% discount on their monthly plan charge. The 10% discount will be applied to your monthly plan fee after any other compatible discounts or promotions.

To be eligible for this offer you must have an eligible health care card, department of veteran affairs gold card or pensioner concession card.

If you change to an ineligible plan, cancel your plan, no longer have an eligible concession card, or we choose to withdraw this offer, the discount will no longer apply to your account.

To determine your eligibility for this offer, we need your Centrelink Customer Reference Number/File number.

By proceeding with this application, and providing us your details, you authorise us to use these details electronically to check your concession card status with the relevant government body to determine your eligibility for the concession card holder offer.

Roll onto Telstra’s standard month-to-month price after twelve months unless you change or cancel beforehand.

Telstra 5G

Telstra currently offers 5G in select areas and is progressively rolling it out to other areas. In non-5G coverage areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G. Check coverage map.

Telstra Satellite Messaging

To use Telstra Satellite Messaging, you need:

  1. a compatible phone with the latest software,
  2. a Telstra Upfront Mobile Plan, and
  3. to be located outdoors within our satellite network with a clear view of the sky.

Our satellite network will extend beyond the range of our mobile network to most outdoor areas on mainland Australia and Tasmania, excluding the Australian Radio Quiet Zone in Western Australia and remote offshore territories and islands of Australia.

Telstra Satellite Messaging is not designed to be an emergency service, as you cannot text Australian emergency responders directly. If you intend to visit remote regions, it is always recommended to plan ahead and take extra precautions in the case of an emergency.

Telstra Satellite Messaging is an intermittent service, so the experience of sending and receiving a message is different than via mobile connection.  Some messages may take a few minutes or longer to send and receive, depending on location, device and availability of satellites.

Telstra Satellite Messaging cannot be used to:

  • receive one-way messages (such as emergency broadcast messages)
  • send or receive MMS
  • send or receive instant messages that require the internet such as WhatsApp or RCS messages
  • make or receive voice or video calls
  • access data
  • send or receive messages overseas

4GX

The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all capital CBDs and selected suburban and regional areas and is progressively rolling out to more places. In other coverage areas around Australia, you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G. Check coverage map.

Outside 4GX areas, you will switch to our fastest available 4G speed. Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination.

Plan speeds

Speeds may vary due to factors such as location, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination. For 5G coverage information, check coverage map.

Data usage

This plan comes with a data allowance to use in Australia. You won’t be charged if you go over your monthly data allowance. Instead, you can continue to access data up to speeds of 1.5Mbps. 1.5mbps isn’t suitable for HD video or high-speed applications, and means that some web pages, social media content and files may take longer to load). In addition, heavy data users (users in the top 1% of all data users) may experience slower speeds than other users during busy periods. The speeds you actually receive may vary depending on a range of factors including your device, location, number of users and download sources. Your data allowance is for personal use in a smartphone or tablet in Australia only and the FairPlay Policy applies.

Compatible handset

Compatible Telstra mobile network handset required. Check your device's compatibility.

Device Payment Contract (DPC)

You must have an eligible Telstra Mobile Plan in order to have a DPC. If you cancel your DPC early, cancel your mobile plan during the device payment term or move to an ineligible mobile plan during the payment term, you’ll need to pay out your device, in full. Device discounts still apply to cancelled orders bought on repayment.

Talk, text and data

Excludes calls, SMS and MMS to premium numbers, some satellite numbers, and use overseas.

International Calling Pack

30 minutes of international calls and unlimited international SMS, to all countries, are included in our Upfront Mobile plans. Once you’ve used the 30 minutes, you can add an International Calling Pack to your plan from $10 per month. You can add or remove it at any time in the My Telstra app. International Calling Pack includes an allowance of calls from Australia to standard international numbers in eligible destinations. View eligible destinations here.

International roaming

The only way to use your service overseas is by purchasing an International Roaming day pass. You can purchase an International Roaming day pass at $5 per day in 7 eligible countries, or $10 per day in more than 80 eligible countries. Day pass Zone 1 and 2 packs include 2GB of data to use per day as well as unlimited talk and text. Usage expires at the end of a 24-hour day pass period. If you go over your 2GB, you can add an additional 2GB for $10 for use within 31 days. A day pass is triggered whenever a call is made or received, an SMS is sent or if any mobile data is used in an eligible destination.

If you’re travelling to a destination where our International Roaming day pass isn’t available, you cannot use your Telstra service.

Cancelling your plan

If you cancel your Telstra Upfront Mobile Plan, you will not receive a pro rata refund for the remainder of your month. If you have any device, accessory or service add-ons attached to your plan, you will have to pay any remaining amount owing as a one-off payment.

Changes to your plan

Your upfront mobile plan may change (including price and inclusions). With no lock-in, you can change your plan once a month or leave. If you leave, just pay out your device, accessories or services in full.

The credit offer will vary depending on your device, tablet or smartwatch type, model and its working condition, and is subject to assessment.

Telstra 5G

Telstra currently offers 5G in select areas and is progressively rolling it out to other areas. In non-5G coverage areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G. Check coverage map.

Telstra Satellite

Telstra Satellite requires:

  • a compatible device with the latest version of the required software; and
  • an eligible Telstra Upfront Mobile Plan (note: plan eligibility differs between Satellite Messaging and Select Satellite Apps). It is available within the satellite network only when outside the range of Telstra’s mobile network and when used outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Telstra Satellite includes:

  • Satellite Messaging: sending and receiving text messages via satellite.
  • Select Satellite Apps: limited access to a small set of low-bandwidth satellite-enabled apps in approved categories such as safety, navigation, messaging, and weather.

Telstra Satellite does not support full internet access or traditional voice calls, and it is not intended to support streaming, large downloads, app-based video or audio calls, always-on services or cloud syncing.  The messaging and app experience may differ from a standard mobile service, and connections may be slow, delayed, intermittent or unavailable at times.  Availability is not guaranteed and depends on third party satellite coverage, location, device and conditions.

Telstra Satellite is not designed to be an emergency service and should not be relied on in an emergency.  You cannot call Triple Zero from a Telstra Satellite service; nor can you text Triple Zero directly or receive one-way emergency broadcasts.

The latest phone software and app versions should be downloaded prior to traveling and leaving Telstra’s mobile network area. If you intend to visit remote regions, it's always recommended to plan ahead and take extra precautions in the case of an emergency. Device compatibility may differ between Satellite Messaging and Select Satellite Apps.

Things you need to know about 5G internet plans

Service availability

Service not available to all areas or all premises. Initial checks may show you are eligible for this service however actual availability will be confirmed after order.

Voice services

Telstra 5G Home Internet doesn’t include a fixed voice service and you will not be able to use it to make or receive calls or support a lift, security or medical alarm.

Speed

Speeds experienced may be slower over Wi-Fi and can also be impacted by other factors such as the distance and line of sight between the serving 5G mobile tower and the modem, the number of users online, where your modem is located and how far you are from it, weather, congestions and your in-home set up.

Estimated average/typical busy period speeds/ranges are for new 5G Internet services only. Average/typical busy period speeds/ranges for existing 5G Internet services may be slower.

Data allowance

If you’re on a Premium 5G Internet plan and exceed your included data allowance, your download speed will be capped at 25 Mbps and your upload speed at 5 Mbps, and may be slowed further in busy periods until your next billing month. There is no option to top up your data or move to a higher data plan.

If you’re on a Basic or Essential 5G Internet plan and exceed your allowance, your upload and download speed will be slowed to 1.5 Mbps or below until your next billing cycle. 1.5 Mbps supports some ordinary internet activity (e.g. working from a web browser, emails, and data calls), although limited to a single user at any time and content may be slow to load. 1.5 Mbps isn't suitable for large file downloads, HD and 4K video or other high-data speed applications like video conferencing, and may not support ordinary use of internet-dependent medical devices.

Cancellation

If you cancel or change tech type within 24 months, your modem must be returned via our eParcel service (we will provide details in an email to you once you cancel) in good working order within 21 days of cancellation or you will be charged a $200 non-return fee.

Telstra Plus

Must be 18+ with an active Telstra-branded service. Points are earned on the cash component of eligible products purchased outright or on a repayment option, and service purchases (excludes cancelled, refunded, or returned products or services). Points expire 3 years from earning. Marketing opt-in required (preferences can be changed). Excludes Telstra Enterprise and Corporate accounts. See the Telstra Plus program terms and conditions.

Things you need to know about Telstra internet with modem plans

Important

An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan.

The nbn® tier figures represent wholesale maximum network speeds during off-peak periods. The nbn® tier figures and ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds. In some cases, the nbn® tier figures and the typical busy period speeds are similar. Find out more about speeds on the nbn network with Telstra.

Plan prices

Your plan and add-ons may change (including price and inclusions). If you’re not happy, you can change your plan or cancel your plan or add-ons. If you cancel, change to a plan without voice or to a different tech type, within 24 months, simply return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee.

High speeds

Typical busy period speeds for Business Pro Fast, Pro Superfast and Pro Ultrafast are an estimate only. We do not have sufficient data yet to calculate the typical busy period speeds. We're still calculating typical busy period upload speeds 9am-5pm, weekdays on this plan - the information here is an estimate only. Speeds experienced may be lower due to factors incl. modem and cabling and in-home set up/wiring. For ordinary personal domestic use. For important information on speeds see nbn key facts sheet (PDF, 81KB).

Information about Telstra 5G internet plans

Service availability

Service not available to all areas or all premises. Initial checks may show you are eligible for this service however actual availability will be confirmed after order.

Voice services

This plan does not include a fixed voice service and you will not be able to use it to make or receive calls or support a lift, security or medical alarm.

Speed

Speeds experienced may be slower over Wi-Fi and can also be impacted by other factors such as the distance and line of sight between the serving 5G mobile tower and the modem, the number of users online, where your modem is located and how far you are from it, weather, congestions and your in-premises set up.

Estimated average/typical busy period speeds/ranges are for new 5G Internet services only. Average/typical busy period speeds/ranges for existing 5G Internet services may be slower.

Data allowance

If you’re on a Premium 5G Business Internet plan and exceed your included data allowance, your download speed will be capped at 25 Mbps and your upload speed at 5 Mbps, and may be slowed further in busy periods until your next billing month. There is no option to top up your data or move to a higher data plan.

If you’re on a Basic or Essential 5G Business Internet plan and exceed your allowance, your upload and download speed will be slowed to 1.5 Mbps or below until your next billing cycle.

Our network

The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all major and regional cities and in over 1,600 towns and communities around Australia. In other coverage areas around Australia, you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G. Check our mobile coverage page.

Telstra 5G now reaches 85% of Australians. Compatible device required. Roll over unused data when you recharge $15-$74 before expiry. Unlimited calls and text exclude satellite and premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), operator assisted calls (e.g. most 12xx numbers) and diverted calls. Our FairPlay policy (PDF 227 KB) applies.

Our speeds

Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination.

Download speeds are capped on our 4G and 5G network on some plans. Your capped download speed is the maximum potential download speed for data included in your recharge. Factors impacting typical speed include location, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination.

Telstra Pre-Paid mobile device

An unlocking fee may apply for use with a non-Telstra SIM card. Check our unlocking information page. Limit 1 per customer and no trade sales. Blue Tick lets you know which phones are recommended for handheld coverage in rural areas.
