To roam in selected destinations on your Upfront Mobile or Data Plan, add an International Roaming Day Pass (charges will apply). Our Upfront Plans don't come with international roaming included and Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) International roaming is no longer available.
International Roaming Day Pass will be automatically enabled on all Upfront Mobile & Data Plans. Once it's enabled, International Roaming Day Pass automatically activates as soon as you use your phone in an eligible destination outside Australia. Each country is allocated to a zone and usage is charge-based.
You can check your International Roaming Day Pass status in the My Telstra App. Please note: You can only turn your International Roaming Day Pass on or off in the My Telstra app or My Telstra in a browser.
Download or update the My Telstra app on the device you're travelling with.
Use your Telstra ID to sign in. If you don’t have one, you can register for a Telstra ID.
Go to Services in the My Telstra app, Select your service, then Extras and International Roaming. Turn Day Pass on or off.
Please note: Day Pass can take up to 2 hours to activate, so do it before you fly.

International Roaming is available in over 80 destinations.
These eligible destinations apply to customers on an Upfront Mobile Plan. If you are not on an Upfront Plan, your eligible destinations may differ. Not sure if you're on an Upfront Plan? Check out our handy FAQ.
Day Pass charges apply for the days when your service is used overseas to make or receive calls, send SMS, or if data is used, including background data usage. Receiving an SMS will not trigger your Day Pass. If you use all your daily data allowance, you’ll get a text with the option to top up. Your International Roaming Day Pass will expire at 24 hours from your service being used.
Once you’re back in Australia, you can leave your International Roaming Day Pass switched on and you won’t be charged.
We’ll send you SMS notifications free of charge so you can keep track of your usage. We’ll let you know when you’ve used 50%, 85% and 100% of your included Day Pass and Data Top-Up data allowance.
International Roaming is not available in all countries and destinations are subject to change. In the listed destinations voice calls, SMS, MMS, and data services may not be available with all operators. The availability of voice calls, SMS, MMS, and data services are dependent on a number of factors including your destination, the participating operator in that destination and the device you use.
