Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We want to build a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace and community where people are respected for their differences, valued for their contributions, celebrated for being their best self and can reach their full potential.

A message from our CEO

Creating an environment where our people feel they belong, where our community feels seen and heard, where everyone is able to equitably benefit from our products and services, this is success. DEI needs to be at the heart of our culture where diverse and equitable thinking is the natural way we do things.

- Vicki Brady (she/her)

Our approach

We’re creating a future that will enable every Australian to connect, share, work and play.

To reach every Australian, Telstra needs to take an intersectional, equitable and inclusive approach to everything we do. That’s why our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion approach aims to strengthen workplace inclusion and equity for everyone, embrace the diverse needs of our customers, and amplify the voices of marginalised groups.

Our People, our why

People are at the heart of everything we do. Explore the stories of some of the people at the centre of our “why”.

Supporting change through Telstra Foundation

Building digital skills for young people

Digital inclusion

We’ve committed to help 1 million children & young people to be more included, empowered, and connected by 2030. We’ll do this by partnering to improve digital skills, digital safety & wellbeing, and access & connectivity for young people across Australia.

Supporting young people to have a say

We want children & young people to have their say in shaping their digital world. That’s why we’ve brought together our first-ever Youth Advisory Council. They’ll elevate youth voices in everything we do and help us gain deeper understanding of how young people experience digital technology, and its impact on their lives.

Mental health support for young people

The Telstra Foundation has partnered with Orygen Digital to support the development of their groundbreaking app for young people – Mello. Designed with and for young people, this app targets a common symptom of depression and anxiety – stuck thinking – it helps young people with their spiralling negative thoughts.
