IoT connectivity is delivered through our range of connectivity plans, either casual, group/shared or international. Plans are offered either through the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre or the Telstra M2M Managed service. Details of the plan options are listed below.

We also have a range of SIM options, each designed for different solution bandwidth, demands and conditions.

Casual data plans

Suitable for solutions that have a high degree of predictability in their usage profile (such as metering, monitoring, vending, digital signage). Each service has a monthly service fee and a dedicated data allowance. Where the monthly data allowance is exceeded, excess usage charges will apply.

These plans are available for the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre service and the Telstra M2M Managed service.

Group and shared data plans

For solutions that have a degree of variance in their usage profile (such as tracking, security, connected consumer device solutions). Both group data plans and shared data plans have an allocated data allowance that makes up the total group or shared monthly data allowance.

For group data plans, total group monthly data allowance is allocated across all services on the same group data plan and account.

For shared data plans, the total shared monthly data allowance is allocated across all services on shared data plans on the same account. Where the total group/shared monthly data allowance is exceeded, excess usage charges will apply.

Group data plans are available for the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre service. Shared Data plans are available for the Telstra M2M Managed service.

International outbound group plans

Suitable for solutions which may be used in many countries around the world. They are organised into three simple Country Tiers to reduce the complexity of installation, distribution and deployment.

The allocated data allowance of an outbound group plan can be shared across the entire group of international services within a Country Tier, when using the eligible carrier in each country, on the same plan and account. If the shared data allowance is exceeded, excess usage charges will apply.

These plans are available for the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre service. Customers will need to preselect their connected devices to the eligible carrier for each country, otherwise PAYG charges apply.

International M2M Outbound Group Plan Country Tiers

Voice plans

The Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre also has a range of voice plans specifically designed for your M2M applications.

Voice plans are only available in conjunction with data plans and cannot be purchased separately.

SMS

Data plans, group data plans and shared data plans also provide for SMS options for SMS-based communications for your connected devices.

Location service plans

These may be suitable for businesses that need to locate and monitor connected assets such as vending machines or ATM’s.

M2M Location All You Can Eat (AYCE) plan
This consists of a monthly charge, per service, that includes full access to all the location service features. With this plan, all asset location information is retrieved for active services on an ongoing basis.

The M2M Location Pay As You Go (PAYG) plan
This consists of a monthly account charge, plus a charge for every location request. With this plan, you identify the location of your assets only when required.

These plans are only available with the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre platform.

Please note: If your service is roaming temporarily or permanently overseas you will not be able to receive location information for that service. For AYCE customers, the service will be charged as an active service but no location data against that service will be shown until the service is back in Australia.

SIMs

Connected solutions often have specific SIM requirements to suit various environmental conditions. We now provide five different SIMs:

  • M2M standard SIM card
  • Micro SIM card
  • Nano SIM
