In June 2019, we simplified our post-paid mobile plans to make it easier for you to understand your Telstra services.

All our new mobile and data plans are month-to-month with no lock-in contracts, meaning you can move up or down the different plan tiers once per month without incurring service early termination charges (ETC) or having to recontract. This means you’ll have the flexibility to change your plan as your needs change.

Find out more about our new plans or check out the latest mobile phones. You can change your plan in My Telstra.

How do I change my plan?

You’ll be on one of our new plans which have no lock-in contracts, meaning you can change your plan once a month. If you move to a higher plan, you’ll get the larger inclusions straight away and will pay a higher amount from the next payment date. If you choose to downgrade your plan, you’ll get the smaller allowance from the next payment date.

You can cancel your plan at any time without a refund of charges already paid. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan once a month in My Telstra.

    Important:

When you start or change your plan part way through a billing period, your first bill will have part month charges. Your order estimate will break down these charges for you and provide you with your ongoing monthly charges after your first bill. If you cancel your plan early, you’ll need to pay out any remaining device and accessory payments.

You can change your plan, however you may incur additional charges. This could include an early termination charge, and depending on the plan you change to, you may also need to pay any remaining device or accessory payment amounts when you make the change.

By changing to one of our new month-to-month plans with no lock-ins, you can change your plan once per billing month. If you’re still in contract, there may be some costs associated with switching to a new plan. For example, this could include early termination charges and any remaining handset repayments.
