From the 12 May 2015, International Roaming is automatically activated for all new Telstra mobiles on a plan.

If you choose not to go with us for your international roaming service, you will need to call us to let us know.

If you joined us on a Telstra mobile plan before 12 May 2015 you will need to activate roaming before you head overseas.

International Travel Pass

Our International Travel Passes are available for two different Zones (each with their own eligible countries) and come in 3,7,14, or 30 day durations.

Keeping your existing number and travelling with your phone has never been easier or more cost effective, thanks to our new International Travel Pass for Small Business customers.

For a one-off charge, an International Travel Pass gives you unlimited voice calls and SMS to standard numbers, and a data allowance to use in eligible countries of the Zone that you select, for the duration of the Travel Pass.

International Casual Traveller Data Packs and Frequent Traveller Data Plans

It’s important to know that when overseas, if you’re using data that is not included in a International Casual Traveller Data Pack or International Frequent Traveller Data Plan, data will cost $3 per MB and is charged per kilobyte or part thereof (1MB = 1024Kb).

Data Packs and Plans

International Frequent Traveller Data Plan

Ideal for the business person who travels overseas regularly or for long periods of time, a data plan gives you a larger data allowance with a minimum six month contract term. Early termination charges may apply if your plan is cancelled within six months.

International Casual Traveller Data Packs

Ideal for the business person who doesn’t travel often or has shorter travel plans, data packs are a one-off charge where you get a fixed data allowance for 30 days.

Check if we support international roaming at your travel destination and then activate roaming before you leave.

Travel Offers

Purchasing a Travel Pass for your mobile on a Telstra plan or a Data Pack if you’re on a Pre-Paid service is a great way to reduce your data roaming charges.

When you arrive

When you arrive at your international destination we’ll send you an SMS to let you know International Roaming is activated.

If you choose not to go with us you’ll need to let us know.

Things you need to know

International roaming: Automatically activated for customers who join Telstra on a Go Mobile plan, Go Mobile broadband plan, Go Business Mobile plan or Go Business Mobile Broadband plan from 12 May 2015. If you are recontracting your existing service you can ask to activate roaming when recontracting or alternatively by visiting www.telstra.com/overseas.

Call forwarding restrictions: From 12 May 2015 call restrictions will apply for our call forwarding service. Calls can only be forwarded to Australian numbers. This helps us protect you from any fraud in case your phone is stolen while you are overseas.

For Mobile Broadband:

  1. International Frequent Traveller Data Plans purchased on or after 7th April 2013 are only available to customers with a 10-digit business account number.
  2. International Frequent Traveller Data Plans purchased on or after 8th May 2013 are subject to a six month contract term. Early Termination Charges (ETC) apply if you wish to cancel your contract early.
  3. International Frequent Traveller Data Plans purchased on or before 7 May 2013 are on a month-by-month basis and can be terminated at any time.
  4. Once your minimum term (if applicable) expires, your International Frequent Traveller Data Plan will continue on a month to month basis until cancelled.
  5. If you go over your data allowance or use data outside of your allowance (such as use outside the selected countries), data usage will cost $3 per MB (charged per kilobyte or part thereof). Your data allowance cannot be used for content charges, SMS, MMS or data usage in Australia.
  6. If you take-up or cancel your International Frequent Traveller Data Plan part-way through a billing month, your monthly plan charge and included data allowance will be pro-rated according to the days the plan was active in that month.
