What is VoLTE?

Voice over LTE (VoLTE) lets you make clearer phone calls over our 4G (LTE) network. Your mobile phone will use 4G to make and receive these calls in areas where 4G is available. When our 3G layer closes during 2024, VoLTE will be required to make or receive phone calls on the Telstra mobile network.

Which devices are compatible?

To use VoLTE, you’ll need a 4G device which is VoLTE-capable.

Devices below purchased from Telstra can make and receive VoLTE phone calls. You’ll just need VoLTE enabled on your device.

  • Apple iPhone 6 onwards, Apple Watch 3 onwards
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 onwards, Note 5 onwards, A5 onwards
  • Google Pixel devices
  • LG G5 onwards
  • Telstra Signature Premium & Enhanced devices
  • Sony devices Xperia Z5 onwards

If you didn’t buy your device from Telstra, you’ll need to get technical assistance (see details below) to see if you can enable VoLTE on your compatible device.
