Why use a passkey?

It makes signing in easier. A passkey allows you to sign in to your Telstra ID without a password. It's a simpler, safer and more secure alternative to passwords.

Here's why you'll love it:

  • You can sign in effortlessly.
  • There are no passwords to remember - so no stress.
  • It helps protect you from phishing, fraud and data breaches.
  • You can manage your passkeys easily, and delete them for old devices.
  • You can have multiple passkeys for one account - one for each device you trust.

How passkey works

A passkey uses your biometrics (like your face, fingerprint or device lock - such as PIN or swipe pattern) to access your Telstra ID.

You can use a passkey across your phone, tablet or computer, and once it’s set up, your passkey will sync automatically through Apple iCloud or Google Password Manager.

Passkeys are securely encrypted on your device before syncing and must be decrypted on any new device before use.

How to set up passkey

Setup takes just a few minutes. Once you're done, your passkey will automatically sync across your devices, so you won’t have to worry about forgotten passwords again.

To set up your passkey:

  1. Sign into the My Telstra app
  2. Go to your profile.
  3. Scroll to 'advanced security settings' and select 'sign up for passkey'.
  4. Add your passkey.
