How to use our mobile plans for International Calling

What is International Calling?

International Calling is when you use your mobile in Australia to call or text someone overseas. 

Depending on your mobile plan, you get different international call and text inclusions. 

• Upfront Mobile plans: Include 30 minutes of standard international calls per month to any country, plus unlimited international SMS and MMS. Need more call minutes? Add an International Calling Pack.
• Pre-Paid Mobile plans: Include capped international call minutes to up to 93 destinations, plus 100 texts to any country. No need for an international SIM, just recharge and call.

International Calling on Upfront Mobile Plans

On an Upfront Mobile plans, you get 30 minutes per month of standard international calls from Australia to all countries, plus unlimited standard international SMS and MMS.

When you run out of your included minutes, you can add a pack through the My Telstra app whenever you need extra time.

• Zone 1 ($10 monthly): Unlimited standard calls from Australia to 23 destinations
• Zone 2 ($20 monthly): Unlimited standard calls from Australia to 23 destinations, 200 minutes from Australia to standard numbers in 45 destinations
• Zone 3 ($30 monthly): Unlimited standard calls from Australia to 23 destinations, 200 minutes from Australia to standard numbers in 99 destinations

How to add an International Calling Pack on Upfront Mobile Plan

1. Sign into My Telstra and go to Services
2. Select your service
3. Select Extras
4. Select International Calling Pack and follow the prompts.

International Calling Packs can only be managed through My Telstra.

If you don’t cancel your pack, it will continue on a monthly basis and you’ll be charged each month until you cancel.

International Calling on Pre-Paid Mobile Plans

Most of our Pre-Paid plans include international calling and texts. You can compare our Pre-Paid plans to see what suits you. But what if you need more? You can simply add one of our International Calling Packs. 

• $10 Pack: 300 minutes of calls to Zone 1 destinations. 
• $15 Pack: 300 minutes of calls to Zone 1 destinations, 60 minutes of calls to Zone 2 destinations. 

These packs are valid for 28 days and are for use in Australia with an active recharge.

1. Sign in to My Telstra and go to Services
2. Select your Pre-Paid service
3. Tap Extras
4. Under Available extras, select International Roaming Packs
5. Choose your pack and follow the prompts to activate

Our Upfront Mobile plans and Pre-Paid plans include international call minutes to a wide range of destinations around the world. These destinations are grouped into three zones based on the number of included minutes. Destinations may change from time to time.
