Free Wi-Fi and calls

Telstra payphones are more that just a way to make a call. For Australians in vulnerable circumstances, they are a lifeline.

We offer free Telstra Wi-Fi at all Wi-Fi-enabled payphones and free standard national and mobile calls from all Telstra payphones.

How can welfare workers help?

If you're a welfare worker, you can contact our special assistance team directly on behalf of your clients, or refer to Information for financial counsellors and customer advocates (PDF, 167KB).

Telstra Bill Assistance Program

Telstra's Billing and Payment Assistance Program provides short-term relief to help customers in need of financial assistance stay connected with family and friends, support services, and employment opportunities.

Telstra Top-up Program

The Telstra Top-Up program provides a Pre-Paid mobile recharge to people at increased risk of harm or disadvantage without financial assistance.

The program is available to community organisations and social service providers through Infoxchange's Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP), or Infoxchange's case management systems.

Telstra Safe Connections

Telstra has partnered with the Women’s Services Network (WESNET), Australia’s peak body for domestic and family violence services, to help women impacted by domestic violence to stay safely connected. Telstra will provide smartphones, Pre-Paid credit, and information on the safe use of technology to WESNET who will distribute them to partner agencies across the country that work directly with clients impacted by domestic violence.
