To unlock your Pre-Paid mobile:
All Telstra Pre-Paid mobiles are locked so they only work on the Telstra mobile network.
To unlock your Pre-Paid device you’ll need its IMEI number. This is a unique 15-digit number which every mobile device has.
To find your IMEI number:
- Dial * # 0 6 # into your mobile
- Your 15 digit IMEI number will come up; write it down!
Back up your phone first:
Before you unlock it, make sure you back up the data on your phone - or you may lose it.
Backing up is different for each phone and model. For your phone’s back up instructions:
- Go to mobile support
- Search for your phone and then select it
- Search for back up instructions.
To unlock your Pre-Paid mobile:
Call us on 1258880 and have your IMEI ready, or if you’re overseas call +61 439 125 888 (international call charges will apply). You can also visit your nearest Telstra store.
We’ll tell you what your unlocking fee is, and how you can pay it. Once we’re received payment, you’ll receive an Unlocking Code. We’ll walk you through the unlocking instructions.
To unlock your Post-Paid mobile:
We don’t currently lock Telstra mobiles on a post-paid plan to our network. If you’re on a post-paid plan and believe your phone IS locked to our network:
- Call 13 22 00 and say ‘unlock handset’
- Visit your nearest Telstra store
