With our lease plans, you’re leasing your eligible phone on a 24 month Device Lease Contract with a service plan – you don’t own the device.
If you upgrade, you must return your old phone. If you signed up to a lease plan prior to 22nd August 2017, you must return your old phone within 30 days of entering your new eligible service plan. From the 22nd August 2017 onwards, you’ll need to return your old phone within 14 days of entering your new eligible service plan. If you don’t return it, we’ll charge you a non-return fee, which is up to the device’s fair market value (to be advised at the time) plus 20%.
At the end of your lease, you must return the phone undamaged. If it’s damaged, you’ll pay the damage fee. If you don’t return it, (subject to our approval) you’ll continue to pay your monthly lease payments for up to 6 months, then a non-return fee of the device’s fair market value (to be advised at the time).
You can offer to purchase your phone device at the end of lease. Be sure to remove the SIM and any personal or confidential data from the device before returning it.
If you cancel your lease early or we terminate it for your breach before month 12, you must pay any remaining monthly lease payments (excluding any discounts as a result of your eligible service plan) and you will then own the device. If you cancel early or we terminate it for your breach after month 12, you can return the handset and pay $99 if it's undamaged or up to $499 if it is damaged or you can keep it and pay fair market value (to be advised at the time) and then own the device. All of these fees and payments are on top of any early termination charges for your service plan and accessories.
Business Lease Assure: Mobile Lease Assure can be taken up at the time you take up your handset and plan for $10 per month and lets you upgrade your device regardless of damage to a new device at any time provided you pay an upgrade fee of $190, return the damaged device to us and enter into a new 24 month eligible device and mobile service plan.
On and from 22 August 2017, if you take up Business Lease Assure, you will only be able to upgrade your device two times within each 12 month anniversary of your My Business Mobile Lease plan.
At the end of your lease contract you must return your device to us and with Business Lease Assure, if your device is damaged pay an additional fee of $190, or you may buy your device for fair market value (to be advised at that time). You may cancel Business Lease Assure at any time in which case the relevant standard fees and charges for your lease contract will apply.
You can upgrade your handset on a Business Mobile Lease Plan after 12 months of taking up your lease contract provided you return it in good working order pay a $99 fee and sign up to a new eligible 24 month Lease Plan.
If you’ve taken up Business Lease Assure for an extra $10 per month, you can upgrade your handset at any time during the 24 month period regardless of damage.
You can use Business Lease Assure twice within each 12 month period, starting on the purchase date of your eligible Plan.
We know accidents happen. If your phone gets damaged during your lease, you have some of the options.
You can pay to get it repaired by the phone manufacturer or us, depending on the nature of the damage. Alternatively, you can pay a damage fee – when you upgrade after 12 months or when you return the phone to us.
If you have a cracked screen, you’ll pay a fee of $229, or if the phone can’t be fixed, you’ll pay $499.
What is Business Lease Assure?
Business Lease Assure lets you upgrade your phone at any time during your contract, regardless of damage, provided you pay an upgrade fee of $190, return the damaged device to us and sign up to a new 24 month eligible phone and service plan.
How much does it cost?
Business Lease Assure costs $10 a month, on top of the cost of your plan.
Who can have Business Lease Assure?
New or existing lease mobile customers who sign up to a new Business Lease Mobile plan.

Can I get Business Lease Assure at any time?
No. If you want Business Lease Assure, you have to add it when you purchase your lease plan.
Can I cancel Business Lease Assure at any time?
Yes. You can cancel Business Lease Assure whenever you like. But you can’t add it back to your existing plan. You can only add it to a new 24-month eligible plan.
How do I upgrade my phone with Business Lease Assure?
There are three ways you can upgrade your phone:

As part of taking up a Business Lease plan, you will receive marketing communications from us reminding you of your right to upgrade your handset, even if you opt out of Telstra marketing.
Extra Data: If you go over your Monthly Data Allowance, we’ll automatically add Extra Data to your allowance for that month in 1GB blocks at a cost of $10 per GB. Extra Data applies to eligible plans only and is for use in Australia. Extra Data will be shared between any eligible services on your account that support data sharing and will expire at the end of your billing month.
