Over the past few years, nbn co. has upgraded their network infrastructure. Now, their fastest Fixed Wireless plans are available for 800,000 homes and businesses.
Telstra is launching two new plans for customers on nbn Fixed Wireless, enabling the fastest speeds available from nbn co.
(Those are wholesale speeds – the speeds you experience will differ based on a range of factors, like your tech, setup and location.)
These plans will be available from June 16 2026.
These Fixed Wireless speeds may be just what you need if you're heavy downloader or live in a large household.

To get one of the new plans, step one is to check your address to see if it's available at your place. Head to our nbn page to do that.
If you're on one of our other nbn Fixed Wireless plans, you can change plans via My Telstra.
You might need to upgrade your Network Terminal Device and Aerial to use the new Fixed Wireless plans. If you do, we'll let you know during this process.

Fixed Wireless is used in regional areas where it is not practical to lay physical fibre to connect to the network.
A fixed antenna is installed on the roof, which receives a signal from your local nbn wireless tower. Internal wiring then leads to the nbn connection box inside your premises. It's also important to understand Fixed Wireless speed.
Other nbn tech types, like FTTP or HFC for example, are physically connected to the nbn network using fibre and copper cables (depending on the connection type)..

Depending on the modem you have at the moment, you may need to upgrade to make use of the higher speeds of these plans.
Different modems are capable of different maximum speeds. If you have an older modem, it may not be able to reach the full download speeds of these plans. It'll still work – it just might not be able to reach 400Mbps downloads, for example.
Check with your modem's manufacturer if you're unsure. If you're using a Telstra Smart Modem 3 or 4, you're good to go.
