How do I transfer an eSIM between devices?

    Select your transfer method

    You can complete a transfer in My Telstra or use Apple eSIM Quick Transfer if you’re transferring between two Apple devices.

    To transfer an eSIM between devices in My Telstra, ensure you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection and follow these steps.

    To transfer an eSIM profile in My Telstra on your new device:

    1. Go to Services
    2. Select Set up or manage eSIM
    3. Choose Transfer or restore eSIM and follow the prompts.

    Once the transfer is complete, you can delete the eSIM from the old device - doing so won't delete it from your new device.

    eSIM Quick Transfer allows you to transfer any SIM between two iPhones or two iPads. You can also convert your current physical SIM card to an eSIM.

    If you have an existing iPhone or iPad you can transfer your eSIM from one device to another or convert your physical SIM to an eSIM on another device. Ensure you have both devices nearby.

    Follow these steps to transfer your eSIM on an Apple iPhone using Quick Transfer.

    To transfer between Apple devices, on your new device:

    1. Go to Settings
    2. Select Mobile Data
    3. Choose Add eSIM and Transfer from Nearby iPhone/iPad.

    Follow the prompts to transfer your physical SIM or eSIM. Once your transfer is complete your physical SIM will no longer work.

    If you experience an error, you may be asked to try again later. If this happens more than four times in 24 hours, please call 13 22 00 or find a store for further assistance.

    If you're moving your existing Telstra service to a new iPhone, you may see an error message stating your number can't be transferred. Finish setting up your new iPhone and use the Transfer or restore eSIM feature in the My Telstra app on your new phone to complete the process.

    If your eSIM service is listed in the My Telstra app on your eSIM-enabled device, you should have a Transfer or restore eSIM option.

    To find Transfer or restore eSIM in My Telstra:

    1. Go to Get help
    2. Select Mobiles and tablets
    3. Select Manage my SIM, eSIM or device.

    If Transfer or restore eSIM isn’t there, check the following:

    • Only the owner of the Telstra account will have the Transfer or restore eSIM option. If they added you as a Full Authority contact, bring your device and photo ID to a Telstra store for assistance. Find a store.
    • The app may need to be refreshed, even if you have the latest version. Try updating, or removing and re-installing the My Telstra app on your device. If the option still doesn’t appear, bring your device and photo ID to a Telstra store for assistance. Find a store.
