What’s the AusAlert warning system?

AusAlert is the new national warning system that will send alerts to mobile devices if there’s an emergency.
In the event of an emergency your mobile device will:
- Vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for around 10 seconds.
- An AusAlert message will appear on your screen.

Frequently asked questions about AusAlert
If you receive a valid AusAlert:
- read the message when it’s safe to do so
- tell others, including family and people nearby
- follow instructions in the message.

Turning off alerts depends on the type of alert AusAlert might send you:
- Critical alerts – can’t be turned off
- Priority alerts – can be turned off, but this is not recommended.

You can check what devices are compatible or contact AusAlert.
You may not get an alert if your mobile device is turned off, in aeroplane mode, isn’t compatible with AusAlert or your device doesn’t have a mobile signal.
