Earworx is a dedicated ear cleaning clinic with locations across Australia. The team specialises in removing impacted ear wax using dry and effective micro-suction technology under direct observation, helping to alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms of excess ear wax.
The business was established in 2016 by registered nurse Lisa Hellwege with the intent to provide a safe and gentle alternative to traditional earwax removal methods. Lisa recognised the need for a clinic dedicated to unblocking impacted ears and removing excess ear wax; an issue that 1 in 20 adults and 1 in 10 children deal with regularly.
Now, Earworx is recognised as a leader in professional earwax removal services nationally, with multiple clinics across Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, Queensland, and Western Australia, all of which are run by registered nurses who have been specially trained in effective micro-suction and curettage techniques.
Earworx was named the Championing Health National Winner at the 2024 Telstra Best of Business Awards, which Lisa acknowledges is a win for patients across the country.
“We believe that registered nurses can be the solution to some of the issues facing the Australian Healthcare system. Earworx is a shining example of registered nurses that are appropriately trained and who understand their scope, taking pressure off GPs and emergency departments across the country.
“The Australian Healthcare funding model needs to catch-up with the regulatory system and adequately support Registered Nurses working independently with their patients.
“We’re going to spend the next 12 months raising awareness of what registered nurses can do to assist the Australian healthcare system and the issues that it faces. This win is about access and equity for all Australians.”
