Foxtel app is the app that’s included with Foxtel from Telstra. It lets you stream Foxtel content on your mobile, PC or tablet in addition to on your TV through your iQ box.
Your Foxtel from Telstra package comes with a set-top iQ box that connects to your TV. If your home is already wired for Foxtel you may be able to install it yourself and if so, we’ll send you a Self-Install Kit.
Meanwhile, you can start watching all your Foxtel content as soon as your account is activated on the Foxtel app.

Everything about HBO Max
Max is a streaming service that provides on-demand content, including the best of HBO, Warner Brothers, Harry Potter, DC, Discovery and much more. From 31 March 2025, the Max app will be available on an internet connected iQ3, iQ4 and iQ5 connected boxes.
From 31 March 2025, the Max Basic with Ads plan will be included in your Foxtel subscription at no additional cost. To set up your Max access, you will need to sign up via your internet connected iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5 set top box.
You can find Max content on your iQ3, iQ4 or iQ51Refer to disclaimers. set top box in three simple ways once you have set up your access to Max:
- Scroll down on the Home, TV Shows or Movies menu until you see the Max tile, featuring popular content on Max right now (select any of content to open the Max app).
- On the Home menu, select the Apps menu and then the Max app.
- Launch the Max app directly from your remote control:
- if you have the Foxtel Voice Remote, press the voice button and say ‘Max’
- if you have a standard remote control, press the Apps button on the remote control, then select Max.

Most HBO content will be moving from the Foxtel platform to the Max streaming app on 31 March 2025. You'll be able to access most HBO content through the Max app on your internet connected iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5 set top boxes.

No, at this stage Foxtel from Telstra customers are only able to get the Max Basic with Ad plan.
On your internet connected iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5 set top boxes:
- Press Home on your remote control and select the Max tile on the Home Page.
- Click on Set up your access to unlock more of Max.
- Scan the QR code using the camera on your phone
- This links directly to the Max app, to start the activation process.
- It also skips some of the initial activation steps as your details will be automatically verified with your existing account information.
- You’ll be directed to the Foxtel website with the MAX landing page. Select Get Started to create your MAX account on the MAX website.
- Open the Max app on your set top box from the Apps page and sign in using the credentials you created for your Max account.
If you see this message, it means that you have already set up your Max access. The QR code will remain visible on the home screen of your internet connected iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5 set top box. You don’t need to scan the QR code again, you can simply sign in with your Max email and password.

Foxtel offer
Eligible to customers who haven’t had a Foxtel Direct or Foxtel from Telstra service in the past three months. After 12 months, you will not receive the monthly credit and will pay standard month-to-month subscription rates. Not compatible with any other offer. For important information on your service and privacy, read the Foxtel service agreement (PDF, 410KB).
4K
To access 4K features you’ll need an iQ4, compatible HDMI cable, compatible 4K TV and subscription to the HD and Sport Packages (included in Sports HD + Foxtel Plus, Premium and Platinum Plus packages). Any other connected equipment must also be compatible with Foxtel’s 4K UHD Standard.

Foxtel from Telstra with Netflix
Netflix requires internet and data charges may apply. In order to access this Netflix subscription you will need to sign up via the Netflix app on your iQ box once the box has been activated. When signing up for Netflix you will need to accept the Netflix Terms of use and Privacy Statement. If you have an existing Netflix subscription, you can link it with your Foxtel from Telstra account via your iQ box.
If you do not link your existing Netflix subscription, you will be billed directly by Netflix for your existing Netflix subscription and again by Telstra for the Netflix subscription that comes as part of your Foxtel from Telstra package.
