Frequently asked questions

If a laptop is Wi-Fi only, it means it doesn’t have a SIM card or eSIM and can only connect to the internet via Wi-Fi. It can’t connect directly to a mobile network using a data plan.

A Wi-Fi only laptop doesn’t have a SIM card slot or eSIM, whereas a SIM-ready laptop does. Because of that, a Wi-Fi only laptop can’t use a data plan to connect to the mobile network, while a SIM-ready laptop can.

With a Wi-Fi only laptop, your access to the internet is limited to the places where you’re able to access Wi-Fi. But a SIM-ready laptop allows you to connect to the mobile network on an eligible data plan.

You can use a Wi-Fi laptop online wherever you’re able to access a Wi-Fi network, such as home, work or school. You can also access public Wi-Fi in places such as airports, shops and restaurants. Or, if you have a phone, you can set up a hotspot and connect that way.

We only sell Wi-Fi laptops outright, which means you make a one-off payment for the full price of the laptop at the time of purchase. You then own your laptop outright.

There are many factors to consider when choosing a laptop. Whether you want to use your laptop for work, study or gaming, you’ll need to take into consideration the screen size, memory, processing speed, graphics, and versatility of its design (for example, tent and tablet mode), amongst other things.
