Information about the service

The Telstra Track and Monitor Service allows you to track and monitor paired, compatible devices through approximate location tracking and monitoring using an application (the Telstra Track and Monitor Portal).  

Availability

Telstra Track and Monitor is available to purchase from Telstra Business Technology Centres, Telstra Stores and via Small Business Contact Centres for small business customers with an Australian Business Number.

Important conditions

Network

Depending on which device you purchase, Telstra Track and Monitor utilises the Telstra Locator Network comprising the Telstra Bluetooth Community, and LTE-M technologies to help locate tags and devices. The type and extent of coverage will vary from location to location and will not be the same at all times. This limits where and how accurately the Telstra Locator Network can locate a tag or device. Location information about your tags and devices is approximate only and may not be current if a tag or device is no longer detected by the Telstra Locator Network. Location information can also be impacted by factors including the accuracy of GPS and other geolocation services and the distance of your device/s from where they are detected by our mobile network or other community members (as applicable). For Bluetooth devices, the Telstra Track and Monitor App must stay open on your mobile device and have Bluetooth turned on. Disabling Bluetooth or force closing the Telstra Track and Monitor App will prevent location data from being transmitted.

The Service may not be available in all locations and is intended for use within Australia. 

Setting up

An internet connection and a supported mobile platform or web browser are required to set up and access the service on a compatible iOS or Android device.

You’ll also need to download and use the Telstra Track and Monitor App on a compatible iOS or Android device in order to use the service on a mobile or tablet device. We can provide you with details of supported platforms and browsers upon request or you can find out about the current iOS and Android compatibility requirements on the Apple App Store and Google Play store from time to time. Your usual data charges may apply.

The Telstra CAT-M1 solar tracking unit battery lasts up to 4 months (depending on environmental conditions). Requires 4-8 days direct sunlight to charge. 

 

 

 

Locating tags and devices

The Telstra Track and Monitor app will use your mobile and tablet devices to help locate nearby lost Telstra Track and Monitor Tags and other compatible devices, including those of other Telstra Track and Monitor users. By using this product you will opt-in to be part of the location community. You consent to us determining the location of your tags and devices in order to provide this service.  

If you do not wish to opt-in to be part of the location community, you are not required to download and use the Telstra Track and Monitor app and may choose instead to use only the Track and Monitor Portal.

We provide a scanning feature that identifies if there are Telstra Track and Monitor devices nearby. We may also use the location of where your devices have been found by the Telstra Finding Network to provide an indicative published map of where tags have been found. These features will not disclose any personal information or the exact location of your tags to others.

 

You must not use the Telstra Track and Monitor service for any purpose other than that for which it was intended, including but not limited to:

  • using the Service for high risk scenarios (including scenarios where the use or failure of the Telstra Track and Monitor Service could lead to death, personal injury or environmental damage), medical applications, in an embedded vehicle system or any business or mission-critical functions (unless your agreement with us expressly contemplates uses of that kind); or
  • to track the location of another person or an object in their possession without that person’s express consent.

Understanding my bill

Your Telstra Track and Monitor Subscription will be charged monthly. Charging will only commence once your order has completed. Your order will be deemed complete upon order submission. You will be sent an email when your Telstra Track and Monitor Subscription is ready to activate and use. You will begin being charged for your subscription from the first full billing cycle after your order has completed. You will not be charged a pro-rata amount for any period where the subscription order is completed part way through a billing cycle.
