We’re offering disaster assistance after Tropical Cyclone Ilsa
You may have seen that Tropical Cyclone Ilsa, a Category Five storm, hurtled into the Western Australian coast on Friday 14 April. While the impact could have been far worse, this powerful storm has still affected some residents. We know it’s distressing, and we want to help you stay in touch.
We will be offering several disaster assistance measures for those in the affected areas.
Areas eligible for Telstra Disaster Assistance
Here are the areas where we’ve activated disaster assistance.
Western Australia

- Nullagine area,
- Pardoo
Available Telstra Disaster Assistance packages
We’ve activated an assistance package that gives our customers measures to help out. Our assistance package gives Telstra customers, who have suffered severe damage or loss of their homes and businesses, access to free and interim services to mitigate short-term impacts caused by damaging weather.
Our assistance packages for affected customers can include the following:
Short-term measures (for Telstra customers who have suffered a short-term impact, evacuation or fault):
- Free use of Telstra public payphones
- Free use of Telstra Air payphone hotspots
- Free call diversion from an affected fixed home or business phone service to another fixed or mobile service of the customer’s choice, regardless of the carrier
- 100GB data pack for eligible post-paid mobile customers (30-day expiry, not transferrable to another service)
- 25GB pre-paid data and free calls for Telstra and Boost Pre-Paid customers (30-day expiry, not transferrable to another service)

How to get Telstra Disaster Assistance packages
If you’re a Telstra customer living in one of the areas we’ve listed above, we’ll send you an SMS with a link to request a disaster assistance package. If you don’t receive that SMS, you can call to activate it on our dedicated disaster assistance line: 1800 888 888. You can also contact us here.
