Our thoughts on the new OPPO Find X2 - Telstra

OPPO’s two flagship phones can be found in its Find X2 series.

Top of the range is the OPPO Find X2 Pro, a standout smartphone boasting an edge-to-edge 6.7-inch display, pro camera, ultra-steady video and 5G, all in one smooth package.

In fact, the camera on the OPPO Find X2 Pro is so good, National Geographic photographer and filmmaker Michaela Skovranova used it on a 10-day Antarctic expedition to make a documentary.

If you don’t need such a professional-level camera, the OPPO Find X2 Neo still delivers great shots, at a more mid-range price. It also offers a 90Hz curved screen and an ultra-slim 7.7mm design.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Find X2 Pro is how good it feels in your hand. The smooth curves and silky feel are especially tantalising.

And you get to choose your preferred texture. The Find X2 Pro comes in high-density ceramic that’s laser cut and polished to a create a gleaming black surface.

Alternatively, if you’d rather a phone that’s softer to the touch, you could opt for the microfibre vegan leather finish. It’s an eco-friendly material and to add to the feel-good vibe, the colour is a standout, sunny orange.

If you like a slim design, you can’t go past the Find X2 Neo – it's one of the slimmest 5G phones on the market, measuring just 7.7mm.

It has the more traditional glass back and metal frame. Or so it appears. The Find X2 Neo features a unique visual effect where its metal features seem to change to glass in different lighting.

Both the Find X2 Pro and the Find X2 Neo have a similar form factor, with edge-to-edge punch hole display and camera that sits almost flush against the cover.

The high refresh rate gives you smoother visuals for gaming, videos or browsing.

Find X2 Pro

The OPPO Find X2 Pro offers super high performance thanks to its Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with 12GB of LPPDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage

The Snapdragon chip makes for faster downloads. It’s increased power also gives the Find X2 Pro the capacity for higher resolution in its cameras and video. And it allows for what Snapdragon claims is ‘desktop-class gaming’.

Now consider the 512GB of internal storage. That’s more than some laptops and, depending on the resolution, it’s enough space for thousands of photos and hundreds of videos.

Find X2 Neo

The OPPO Find X2 Neo is no slacker in the performance department either. It's powered by a Snapdragon™ 765G, so you can expect a seamless response on even the most graphically demanding applications.

If you’re into gaming you’ll appreciate this phone. It offers near near-instant response, incredible audio and cinema-quality graphics, plus very long battery life for all-day play. The Find X2 Neo’s 5G connectivity also lets you play multi-player games.

There’s pretty good storage capacity too – 256GB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM.

Both phones have exceptionally good cameras. The OPPO Find X2 Pro is the better of the two, but you will pay more for it. So it's worth considering how you intend to use the camera.

Find X2 Pro

The camera in this phone is a high-performance,  3-in-1  sports camera that's good enough to shoot professional-quality photos and video in rugged outdoor environments.

Here are the specs:

• Two x 48MP wide-angle cameras
• Ultra steady video
• Ultra night mode
• 13MP periscope telephoto camera lens
• Front 32 MP selfie camera

Like Michaela Skovranova, you can take crisp and compelling shots in all conditions. The lenses work together to deliver a 10x hybrid zoom so you can be sure to get consistent colour balance and smoother zooming.

Find X2 Neo

If you don't need to film underwater in Antartica, but still want a great camera for more everyday photography, consider the Find X2 Neo. 

The camera is judged to be one of the best in its price range. It has a good zoom and enough lenses to make it a versatile camera for shooting food, holiday snaps and selfies with rich colour and sharp detail.

The Find X2 Neo has a Li-Po 4025 mAh battery, and comes with a 30W fast charger that will bring it up to 50% capacity in only 20 minutes.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro has three recording microphones so you can capture crisp, clear sound even in noisy conditions.  You can block out wind noise or focus on a subject and amplify its sound as you zoom in.

When you're listening back, the X2 Find Pro creates a truly immersive experience.  Its full-range top and bottom speakers combined with Dolby Atmos®  deliver a rich, deep bass that really draws you in. 

With her OPPO Find X2 Pro in her pocket, Michaela Skovranova was easily able to capture the unique sights and sounds of Antarctica.

The Find X2 Neo is also very pleasing to the ear. It also employs a three-microphone system for recording. Playback is via dual stereo speakers, which allow you to pump up the volume without distortion. Meanwhile Dolby Atmos boosts the  bass and enriches the sound.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro has a rating of IP68 which means it’s splash, water and dust resistant. You can also submerge it to a maximum depth of 1.5m for up to thirty minutes.

If you don't need the ruggedness of the Find X2 Pro, you might consider the Find X2 Neo. While it doesn't have dust or water resistance, it's still a great phone, but at a lower price.

National Geographic filmmaker Michaela Skovranova pushed the limits of the OPPO Find X2 Pro to the extreme on her documentary expedition to Antarctica by filming icebergs underwater.
