There are four award categories in the Telstra Best of Business Awards, celebrating extraordinary businesses across Australia.
Each category recognises a different way businesses contribute and succeed: Change, First Nations, Growth and Innovation.

First Nations Award
For First Nations-led, owned and operated businesses succeeding through entrepreneurialism, innovation and inspiring the next generation of all Australians.
Growth Award
For businesses - new or established - achieving outstanding growth that contributes to the Australian economy and community.
Innovation Award
For businesses leveraging innovative technology to create new paths, processes, or products solving modern challenges for Australia.
When do I choose an award category?
You choose an award category later in the process, not when you nominate.
First, your business must be nominated. When entries open, you can decide whether to enter. If you do, you’ll go through a short eligibility check, and that’s when you choose your category, before you submit your entry.
Business of the Year
The highest recognition
State winners, meaning the winners of each award category in every state or territory, are considered for national category awards. National category winners are then considered for Business of the Year, recognising the standout business across that year’s Awards.
This recognition does not require a separate entry.

No. Nominating is the first step and doesn’t require you to choose an award category.
If you decide to proceed, you’ll select one award category when you complete your entry.
You can enter one award category per awards program.
Many businesses could fit more than one category. Choose the one that best matches your strongest outcomes and the story you want to present.
No. Once selected, your category can’t be changed, so it’s worth reviewing the options before you decide.
