What is SmartDelay?

SmartDelay gives Telstra Plus Gold tier members and up to four travel companions complimentary access to 1,700+ airport lounges at 500+ airports in over 100 countries if your flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes. T&Cs apply.

All Gold members can register for one journey per calendar year. 

If your flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes according to the flight tracking system of Collinson Insurance Services Limited, you'll receive an email with your lounge pass and instructions for locating eligible lounges.  Lounge access available for up to 24 hours from issue.

Flight delays caused by events outside the airline’s control (such as extreme weather or air traffic control issues) may not qualify.

How to unlock lounge access with SmartDelay

This offer is for Telstra Plus Gold tier members.

  1. In the My Telstra app, go to Telstra Plus.
  2. Under Discover partner offers, select SmartDelay.
  3. Scroll down and select Register SmartDelay pass. We’ll check your eligibility and generate a one-time access code for you.  
  4. Copy your unique one-time code to Telstra Plus SmartDelay and follow the flight registration process.
  5. You’ll be notified via SMS and/or email with your lounge pass voucher if there’s a delay of longer than 60 minutes.

A new benefit product for Telstra Plus Gold tier members, where members can register their international flight, and if their flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes, the member is eligible to enjoy free airport lounge access at select lounges. 

SmartDelay is provided to Telstra Plus Gold tier members flying overseas. The benefit is available to the main passenger and up to four additional passengers on the same journey. 

  1. The offer is only available in the My Telstra app.   
  2. On the My Telstra app, go to Offers. You can find this on the top points summary panel on the home screen of the My Telstra app.  
  3. Select the SmartDelay promo tile. 
  4. Answer the qualifying questions to ensure you’re eligible for Smart Delay for your specific journey. 
  5. Once you’re qualified and want to redeem your once-per-year unique code, press Generate access code.  
  6. Once you press Generate access code, you’ll have 6 months to use your code to register a flight and will no longer be eligible for a new code until the new calendar year, regardless of whether the code is used to register your flights or whether your flight is delayed. 
  7. Copy your one-time use unique code to Telstra Plus SmartDelay and follow the flight registration process. 
  8. During the flight registration process, you’ll need the names of all passengers as they appear on their passport or boarding pass and the flight number of each flight (up to five legs) of your journey. 
  9. Once you complete this process, you can sit back and relax, and the SmartDelay service will handle the rest. You’ll automatically be notified via SMS and/or email with your lounge pass voucher in the event of delays over an hour.  Your lounge pass voucher will provide instructions for locating eligible lounges.

Eligibility  

You must be an active Telstra Plus member with active Telstra services at the time of activating your promotion code.  

Key Terms  

Offer is available via the My Telstra app only.    

Only one promotional code is available to each Telstra Plus Gold tier member per calendar year, regardless of whether that code is used to register a flight or whether your flight is delayed.   

Once a promotional code is retrieved from your Telstra Plus account, you will have 6 months to use it to register a flight.   

Promotional code is only available for international journeys.   

Each promotional code can be used to register the main traveller plus 4 additional travel companions that are on the same journey.  

SmartDelay is only applicable for flight delays over 60 minutes, based on the flight tracking system of Collinson Insurance Services Limited.  Lounge passes are not available where flights are cancelled or rescheduled to 24 hours after the flight's scheduled departure time (which will be handled by the airline directly via their own compensation process). Lounge passes are provided on a non-transferable, non-refundable and non-changeable basis.  

Flight delays caused by events outside the airline’s control (such as extreme weather or air traffic control issues) may not qualify.   

In the event of an eligible delay, the main traveller will receive their lounge voucher via email and SMS along with the lounge vouchers for each registered travel companion.

Access to airport lounges is subject to availability and lounge operator terms and conditions. 

In the event that a lounge is not available, you may still benefit from special dining offers at selected cafes and restaurants, subject to relevant terms and conditions. 

Once issued to a passenger, each lounge voucher will be valid for 24 hours.
