- Sign in to My Telstra.
- Choose your mobile service, then select the ‘Extras’
- Select ‘Speed Optimiser’ in ‘Extras’
- You’ll be presented with a view of your averaged download speeds with and without Speed Optimiser.
- For a more detailed view per day, select ‘View daily speed breakdown’
Data takes 48 hours to update, shows the nearest decimal point and doesn’t include capped mobile data speeds.
Coverage and network
Mobile Speed Optimiser provides faster typical download speeds in times of high network traffic conditions, whether you're connected to the 4G or 5G network, compared to standard plans without Mobile Speed Optimiser. 5G devices will often connect to both 4G and 5G networks.
Your speeds will still be capped at 1.5Mbps if you exceed your data allowance and slowed further in busy periods. This speed is not suitable for HD video or high-speed applications and some webpages, videos, content, and files may take longer to load.
Your optimised connection should not have a noticeable effect for Customers on our standard plans without Mobile Speed Optimiser.
No, Mobile Speed Optimiser won’t improve your network coverage.
Mobile Speed Optimiser doesn’t increase your monthly data allowance. Once you’ve exceeded your monthly data allowance, your speeds will be capped at 1.5Mbps until the end of your billing period. This speed is not suitable for High Definition (HD) video or high-speed applications and means that some webpages, video/social media content may take longer to load during busy periods.

Help and support
You can cancel Mobile Speed Optimiser using My Telstra, by visiting a Telstra store or Telstra Technology Business Centre, or by calling us.
To cancel using My Telstra, follow these steps:
- Sign in to My Telstra
- Choose your mobile service, then select the ‘Extras’ tab
- Select ‘Speed Optimiser’
- Click ‘Remove Speed Optimiser’
- You’ll have the option to provide a reason for cancellation before selecting ‘next’
- You’ll now be presented with a cancellation summary before selecting ‘next.’
At this stage both products are mutually exclusive. You can switch between Mobile Speed Optimiser and Mobile Latency Optimiser once per payment cycle.
They are the same add-on. Mobility Accelerator has been re-named to Mobile Speed Optimiser.
Mobile Speed Optimiser doesn’t work when you’re connected to Wi-Fi. It only works when you’re connected to Telstra’s 4G or 5G network.
Mobile Speed Optimiser works on compatible 4G and 5G devices.
Switching between extras
You can switch between Mobile Speed Optimiser and Mobile Latency Optimiser.
You can cancel Mobile Speed Optimiser via My Telstra, visiting a Telstra store or Telstra Technology Business Centre, or calling us. See help and support for more on this. Cancellation of Mobile Speed Optimiser will take effect at the time of cancellation.
If you exceed your data allowance, you can continue to access data at speeds of up to 1.5Mpbs and won't be charged any more for that usage.
Your network speed may vary due to things like congestion, location, distance from the base station, local conditions, the device you’re using, hardware and software configuration, download source and upload destination.
