Information about the service

Information about the service

This plan is for a trial post-paid monthly mobile phone service which gives you access to the Telstra mobile network. The key details of what’s included and what’s not included for this plan are set out in the table above. We can change the details of this trial, or cancel the trial, by providing 30 days notice to you. You need to keep details of this trial confidential.

Plan Requirements

You must maintain at least one active Mobile SIM and a Data Pool to use this plan. You can add up to 15 Mobile SIMs to a Data Pool.

To use this plan, you need to bring your own compatible mobile device (or buy one from us outright). Check if your BYO device is compatible at telstra.com.au/device.

Using the Data Pool

This plan comes with a Data Pool to use in Australia. You can’t use this plan to access data while you are overseas.

If you exceed your data allowance, you won’t be charged if you go over your monthly data allowance. Instead, your speed will be capped at 256kbps (if you have an XS Data Pool) or 1.5mbps (if you have any other Data Pool).

256kbps isn’t suitable for streaming video content and most applications, are very slow for web browsing and email, and can’t be used for mapping services.

1.5mbps isn’t suitable for HD video or high-speed applications, and means that some web pages, social media content and files may take longer to load.

In addition, heavy data users (users in the top 1% of all data users) may experience slower speeds than other users during busy periods. The speeds you actually receive may vary depending on a range of factors including your device, location, number of users and download sources. Your data allowance is for personal use in a smartphone in Australia only.

Making Changes

Can I change my plan?

Yes, you can change your Data Pool size once each monthly period.

If you increase your Data Pool size, you will get the increased included data amount immediately. If you decrease your Data Pool size, we won’t refund any money that you’ve already paid for the current month, and the new monthly charge and allowance will apply from the next monthly payment date. From then on, continuing from month to month thereafter until you make a further change. 

Can I cancel my plan?

Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time. You may continue to use the service until the end of the monthly payment cycle. We won’t refund any money or remove inclusions you’ve already paid for.

Can Telstra change my plan?

From time to time we may make changes to your plan, including price and inclusions, or we may move you to a new plan (which may cost more). With no lock-in, you can change your plan once a month or leave. If you leave, just pay out your device, accessories or services in full. If we change your plan or move you to a new plan:

a)     We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice before making changes or automatically moving you to the closest available plan.

b)     If you don’t like the changes or the new plan, you can choose a new plan (once a month) or cancel your plan. If you cancel your plan, you’ll need to pay out the remaining cost of your devices, accessories or services in full.

Other Information

Can I use this plan overseas?

No, this plan is for use in Australia only. You can’t use it to make or receive calls or to send messages while you’re overseas, or to access mobile data while overseas. 

How can I monitor and manage my data usage?

You receive SMS alerts in near real-time when you reach 50%, 85% and 100% of your Data Pool. To check your use, install the My Telstra App on your smartphone or tablet.

FairPlay Policy

You must comply with our FairPlay Policy and not use your service in an unacceptable, unreasonable or fraudulent manner, or in a way that detrimentally interferes with the integrity of, or causes significant congestion to, the network. We may take action if you breach the FairPlay Policy, including suspending or cancelling your  service.
