What is Telstra disaster assistance?

When disaster strikes, your phone becomes a lifeline. Whether it’s making a call to your friends and family or checking on the latest disaster alerts, we want to make sure you have what you need to stay connected.

We’ve recently made some changes to our disaster assistance to make it easier for you to get the help you need when the worst happens.

In the past, you would have to contact us to apply disaster assistance to your account. Going forward, we will apply disaster assistance measures to everyone in an affected area so you don’t have to worry about getting in touch.

How we’re supporting you

If you’re a Telstra post-paid customer, we’ll be automatically bestowing an extra 100GB of data for use within 30 days in Australia.

If you’re a Telstra pre-paid customer in an affected postcode, you are eligible for 35GB of data for use within 30 days in Australia. Typically you will receive an SMS with instructions on how to apply this data if you are in an affected area. Alternatively, you can apply the data by calling us on 1800 888 888.

We will continue to monitor the aftermath and make additional support available should it be required.

What if I need more support?

If you need to chat to us, you can contact us on our dedicated disaster assistance line on 1800 888 888.

We also offer extensive information on how to prepare for a disaster on Telstra.com.

Areas eligible for disaster assistance

We have activated our disaster assistance measures in the 0854 postcode of the Northern Territory.
