Samsung's foldable range grows by one this year. Here's what's changing across the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra, Flip8 and when you can get your hands on them.
You can pre-order Samsung's new Galaxy Z series with us from 23 July 2026: the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip8. All three devices launch on 14 August, and customers who pre-order can save up to $1,100.
The headline is the new Fold8 Ultra, which sits above the standard Fold8 with a bigger 8-inch main screen, a 200MP triple camera system and Samsung's newest Snapdragon chipset. For anyone who wants the most capable foldable Samsung makes, this is now the one to get.

Three devices, three different strengths. The Fold8 Ultra is the productivity flagship: bigger screen, best cameras, most RAM. The standard Fold8 leans into entertainment, with a wide-ratio main display built for streaming and reading. The Flip8 stays the compact, pocketable option, and Samsung says it's the slimmest and lightest Flip yet.
All three share IP48 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7, and compatibility with Telstra Satellite Messaging.

The Fold8 Ultra brings flagship-level cameras and display to Samsung's book-style foldable for the first time. It unfolds to an 8-inch main display and folds back down to a 6.5-inch cover screen.
The camera system is the biggest jump on the device: a 200MP wide lens, a 10MP telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide, run through Samsung's ProVisual Engine. That's a big upgrade on the standard Fold8's dual 50MP setup, and puts the Fold8 Ultra's camera hardware closer to the Galaxy S Ultra than any Fold before it.
Battery capacity climbs to 5,000mAh, the largest yet on a Fold, paired with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and up to 16GB of RAM on the 1TB storage option. Samsung's built the AI features here around productivity: one-tap suggestions for reminders and pinned locations, with follow-up screens opening straight into Multi Window so you can act without breaking your flow.
The Fold8 keeps its focus on entertainment. Samsung's built the main display around a screen ratio suited to streaming platforms and ebooks, unfolding to 7.6 inches, and the device folds back to what Samsung calls its most refined Fold design yet, at 9.7mm folded.
Battery capacity rises to 4,800mAh, paired with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset as the Ultra. The AI feature here is Now Nudge, which surfaces reminders and pinned locations in real time and opens follow-up actions in Multi Window: a similar idea to the Ultra's productivity tools, tuned for everyday use rather than power users.
Camera hardware is a dual 50MP wide and ultra-wide system, still running through the ProVisual Engine.
Samsung says it's the slimmest and lightest Flip yet: 180g, with a folded thickness of 13.1mm.
The 4.1-inch cover screen is now more customisable, with a FlexWindow interface that lets you build a home screen, reply to messages and check Now Brief updates without unfolding the phone. Unfold it and the 6.9-inch main display and 4,300mAh battery take over.
Camera hardware carries over: a 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide on the rear, with FlexCam letting the cover screen double as a viewfinder for hands-free selfies. The Flip8 runs on Samsung's Exynos 2600 chipset.
Each device gets its own AI feature rather than a single shared one. Now Brief on the Flip8 surfaces personalised updates on the cover screen without needing to unfold the phone. Now Nudge on the Fold8 focuses on reminders and location prompts that flow into Multi Window. On the Fold8 Ultra, the same underlying idea is tuned for heavier multitasking, with follow-up screens designed for people juggling email, video calls and several apps at once.
