No excess data charges

All of our new month-to-month plans come with no excess data charges in Australia. Peace of Mind Data means you won’t pay excess data charges if you go over your included data allowance in Australia. Instead, your speed will be capped at 1.5Mbps (not suitable for HD video or high speed applications and means that some webpages, videos, social media content and large files may take longer to load), and slowed further in busy periods.

Peace of Mind Data is included in some of our old plans or can be added to eligible plans for an extra $10/mth.

Peace of Mind Data speed guide

User Activity Typical impact of 1.5Mbps speed cap
General web browsing

Generally unlikely to significantly affect user experience when browsing some common websites (e.g. internet banking, Google searching, browsing social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter). Where websites involve a large number of images or high resolution images, some pages may load more slowly.

When using social media apps (e.g. Instagram, WhatsApp)

Generally unlikely to significantly affect user experience, including when streaming standard definition video. At times, some aspects of apps may load more slowly, for example, an HD video or a particularly large picture file.

Watching/streaming standard definition (SD) video (e.g. Foxtel Now, Netflix, YouTube) Generally suitable for video streaming at SD quality on a smartphone device.
Watching/streaming high definition (HD/4K) video (e.g Foxtel Now, Netflix, YouTube)High speed applications (e.g. Fortnite Battle Royale Mobile)

Not suitable for watching/streaming high definition (HD/4K) video or high speed applications. Video/content will be slower to start playing, load and/or buffer. Note: Most video streaming services will automatically default to SD quality.

Streaming music (e.g. Spotify) Generally suitable for streaming music on a smartphone. Common music streaming apps (e.g. Spotify, Pandora) typically stream music at less than 300kbps.
When using maps (e.g. Google Maps) Generally suitable for using maps.
When downloading and uploading files (e.g. installing apps from Google Play store, download offline video on Netflix) Apps and files may be slower to download/upload. This is likely to be more noticeable the larger the file.
