Telstra Data Hub
Data exchange made simple

Key features
A single platform to contribute and collaborate at will, giving you actionable insights, make faster and more accurate decisions so you can plan ahead.
Now it's easy to access data from multiple sources. Aggregate and analyse it how you want. And have full control of what you share. All with the simplicity and scalability of the cloud.
Diverse data sources
Contribute or tap into data across businesses, industries, governments and even entire communities. Access it from IoT sensors, enterprise databases, satellites, weather information and more.
Data Cleaned at Ingress
Incoming data is scrutinised to meet predefined parameters and provenance. Since data is vetted, tagged, and in a standard format, no repurposing of code is required.
Fine-grain Permissioning
Permissioning is attached to each data point for granular control. The same data point can offer different access levels to different viewers according to the permissions set.
Exchangeable Data Sets (XDS)
Data is mapped to standardized datasets, known as Exchangeable Data Sets, these can be accessed and used by apps or analytics tools while maintaining fine grain permissioning.
Quick-search catalogue
Exchangeable Data Sets are tagged for fast search and retrieval and can be viewed by category. You can even capture specific data points, not the entire data set, to use with your BI tools.
Benefits
More data for greater insight
Increase the potential for wider and deeper insight through data capture across multiple public and private sources.
Fast and easy to use
Make data search, retrieval and analysis a simple 'plug n' play' experience with standardised, modular and validated Exchangeable Data Sets.
Extract meaning with powerful tools
Select, aggregate and visualise data the way you want. Create algorithms, ML models and transformation scripts with in-built tools like Jupyter Notebooks and python libraries, or BYO.
Create and host your own apps
Host your own app on the Telstra Data Hub to make its information available to your stakeholders. You can even build your app with our toolkit.
Share your data your way
You're in full control. Set rules and select licence types for usage. Choose who you share data with at an individual or organisational level, and decide what you want to share.
How it works
Step 1: Data is taken from multiple sources:
- IoT sensors
- Public and private databases
- Satellites, weather information
Step 2: Ingress API scrutinises incoming data. The Telstra Data Hub:
- Standardises data format and type
- Adds location, permissioning and provenance metadata
- Stores data
Step 3: Data is assigned in a category in the data catalogue along with:
- Data from the same device/other devices
- Data from other places
- Other types of data
Step 4: Egress API offers data access. Pemissioning rules determine:
- Who can access the data
- What data can be accessed
- What purpose the data will be used for
Step 5: Organisations use inbuilt or BYO tools to:
- Combine data from multiple sources
- Perform analytics and visualisations
- Create algorithms, ML models and transformation scripts
Step 6: After data analysis/transformation, organisations can:
- Publish transformed data
- Publish code as API endpoints
- Host apps to make data available to stakeholders
