We’re offering free calls to Papua New Guinea
Like many of you, we’ve seen the devastation following the recent landslide in Papua New Guinea. We’d like to help in a small way by hopefully giving those who need to keep in touch with loved ones in Papua New Guinea one less thing to worry about.
From 12:01am AEST tonight (Wednesday 29 May, 2024), we’ll be providing free calls to Papua New Guinea to help you can get and stay in touch with those you care about most, without having to worry about the cost of a call.
Voice calls will be free from Telstra post-paid mobiles and pre-paid mobiles either with us or one of the brands that also use our network (including Belong, Boost and JB-HiFi). Calls will also be free from Telstra home phones.
Digicel PNG is also offering free calls, SMS and data for up to seven days starting immediately for the area affected by the disaster. The offer includes 80 minutes (all-net), 5 mins International, 80 SMS, and 750MB of data.
We’ll keep this in place until 11:59pm AEST on 5 June, 2024, so you can stay connected as disaster recovery work continues in PNG.
How to call Papua New Guinea from Australia
To make calls to PNG, you will need to use the correct international dialling code (+675) and the correct sequence to get in touch.
Just keep in mind that the landslide may have damaged some local infrastructure, meaning calls might not get through.
To make calls to Papua New Guinea from a mobile phone:
- Enter the country code for Papua New Guinea on your keypad, which is ‘+675’. You can get a ‘+’ symbol on your keypad by holding down the ‘0’ button;
- Dial the local number. Remember to include all the digits, including any leading zeroes.
To make calls to Papua New Guinea from a fixed line phone:
- First dial ‘0011’;
- Then enter the country code for Papua New Guinea, which is ‘675’;
- Finally, dial the local number. Remember to include all the digits, including any leading zeroes.
