What can I trade in for credit?

Currently, we’re accepting some smartphones, tablets and smartwatches for trade-in. We’re accepting smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Huawei and Google, as well as tablets from Apple and Samsung.

You can use our Trade In Estimator to see if you can trade your device. If the device is too old, damaged or otherwise not accepted, you can still bring it in to any of our stores and we’ll recycle it responsibly for you.

Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, modems and more are contain precious and rare-earth minerals that can be recycled and reused. That way your device doesn’t end up in landfill, leading to further mining of these resources and potential leakage of battery components into groundwater.

By trading in your old phone, you're not only getting a great deal but also contributing to environmental sustainability. Our trade-in program ensures that devices are reconditioned, resold, or recycled, minimising e-waste. As a carbon-neutral business, reducing environmental emissions is a top priority for us.

In FY23 we reused or recycled 632,919 mobile phones, modems and other devices and transitioned 100% of our Telstra-branded products to new sustainable packaging that is made of recyclable materials and is fully recyclable. It’s a big deal for us and for you!

How can I trade-in my old phone with Telstra?

When you’re purchasing a new device from us on, you’ll see a new “Trade-In” box. That’s where you’ll start the process. Alternatively you can use our Trade-In Estimate tool via Assurant

Simply grab your old device, and make sure it’s in good working order. Then get an estimate for your device by filling in the device type, model, capacity and any other relevant information on our Trade In Estimator.

The Trade-In Estimator will give you an indicative value for your device. If your device is damaged, the estimate may be lower.

Keep in mind that this is just a quick estimate. You’ll receive a full quote once you complete the device-condition assessment via the Telstra Trade-In app or on our website, powered by our trade-in friends at Assurant.

If your trade-in is accepted, we’ll credit the amount to your bill once we’ve received the device.

Ready to go?
