We've identified an issue with some older Apple devices connecting to our network
We're currently investigating an issue preventing some older Apple devices from connecting to our network. We're working on this as a priority with Apple and will share updates as we have them.
Devices that may be impacted:
- iPhone 8 updated to iOS 16.7.13
- iPhone 8 Plus updated to iOS 16.7.13
- iPhone X updated to iOS 16.7.13
Update 29 Jan 2026 at 3:30PM (AEDT):
- Apple has released a carrier settings update to fix this issue
- To install the update, follow these instructions:
- Connect your impacted iPhone to Wi-Fi
- Tap Settings > General > About
- Accept the carrier settings update by tapping “OK”
- Confirm the update installed by going to Settings > General > About and make sure it says “Telstra 54.1” next to Service Provider
- If the Service Provider version does not show “Telstra 54.1” check you’re connected to Wi-Fi and repeat the steps above.
Update 29 Jan 2026 at 11:30AM (AEDT):
- Apple has identified a fix for this issue that will be available in an upcoming software update
- We recommend connecting your iPhone to Wi-Fi to receive the update once it’s available.
Update 29 Jan 2026 at 9:00AM (AEDT):
- Calls to 000 will automatically connect on an alternative mobile network if one is available. It can take some time (e.g. one minute) for the impacted device to connect to the alternative mobile network when one is available.
Update 28 Jan 2026 at 6:00PM (AEDT):
- Apple has paused software updates released this week for some older iPhone models while they investigate. These include iOS 18.7.4, iOS 16.7.13, iOS 15.8.6, iOS 12.5.8
