At IBC 2019 Telstra Broadcast Services will showcase a portfolio of next generation high quality broadcast solutions and launch a global remote production solution allowing broadcasters and sport media customers to tailor their remote production solutions.
This solution framework builds on real remote production projects delivered for customers globally such as the World Relay Championships in Japan for Independent Television News (ITN).
This was the first time Telstra’s Distributed Production Network (DPN), the company’s high performance media IP network, was used for a live sports event outside Australia to deliver broadcast content of the championships from Japan, via Australia, around the globe.
Andreas Eriksson, Director of Telstra Broadcast Services, said, “IBC 2019 is a great opportunity for us to showcase the success of our long distance productions and demonstrate how sports contribution is being disrupted by the move from satellite to fibre”.
Throughout the last year Telstra Broadcast Services has continued to invest in its Global Media Network (GMN), which, through its network of Alliance Partners, now reaches over 2,500 end points including over 1000 media and sports companies, 1500 venues including many of the top global sports and entertainment venues, and 10 teleports around the world. This is delivered as a consumption based model with global service assurance across the Alliance Partners and a global booking process for occasional users.
With 40 operating antennas at teleports in Hong Kong, Perth and Sydney and a 24/7 Broadcast Operations Centre connected to master control rooms in Asia, Europe and North America, Telstra looks to remain one of the leading service providers to deliver global coverage from the Asia Pacific region.
“At Telstra, we continue to push the possible when delivering innovative broadcast solutions to live sports customers globally. We offer a deep knowledge and experience across all aspects of media delivery, providing specialised services for leading broadcasters and sports media companies,” said Eriksson.
Telstra will showcase its live sports capabilities at IBC 2019 with interactive demos of the Telstra Global Media Network (GMN) and Globecam. Telstra is also looking closely at how 5G will impact media and broadcast workflows and how leveraging 5G networks in Australia and internationally will benefit its global media and sports customers.
