[CHRIS WRIGHT, Major Events Lead, Telstra Broadcast Services] Telstra have been delivering special events networks to audiences since we helped broadcast the moon landing to the world in 1969.
[ALEX RYDBERG, Production Manager, Telstra Broadcast Services] Our Special Events Network continues the tradition of bringing major events to record-breaking audiences across the planet.
[CHRIS WRIGHT] Major events are not your typical week-to-week type stuff, like your basketball or your football. They're all major events that might happen once every four years.
[SCOTT LONG, Senior Engineer, Major Event, Telstra Broadcast Services] From consultation, design, delivery, management, and operation, the Special Events Network end-to-end service is designed by Telstra Broadcast Services' team of media and telecommunications experts.
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON, Head of Telstra Broadcast Services] The benefits as well is that it's really a fully bespoke solution that we do. So, selecting the right fibre path, the right cable systems, designing the network layer around the media services on top of it, plus having people on the ground or at the customer premises to monitor end-to-end services.
[ALEX RYDBERG] The most special thing about the Special Events Network is the capabilities that it has. It can deliver multiple feeds for multiple events simultaneously.
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON] Utilising a combination of Telstra's world-class subsea cable network, satellite and Internet delivery,
[CHRIS WRIGHT] it provides coverage, reliability and flexibility needed to reach media markets around the world.
[ALEX RYDBERG] The Special Events Network's purpose really is to help our customers to achieve their vision and technology road map.
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON] There are a few examples. One example is where we brought America's Cup to the world.
[CHRIS WRIGHT] Telstra Broadcast Services' media expertise, together with the convergence of Telstra's telco networks, allow us to pioneer reliable, bespoke solutions and deliver exceptional events for our customers to their global audiences.
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON] A fantastic example of making the impossible possible is when we had to develop a reliable network solution to deliver a live feed from the Marianna trench during the Deep Sea Challenge with James Cameron, some 11,000 metres below the sea surface.
[CHRIS WRIGHT] More recently, we helped the America's Cup with a flexible any screen, any format, anywhere, professional contribution solution that dramatically increased their distribution, footprint and coverage
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON] That’s almost 1 billion viewers. That was a very exciting project for us.
[SCOTT LONG] However, these are just a couple of examples. Our sophisticated Special Events Network carries over 15 events per year.
[CHRIS WRIGHT] The future of the Special Events Network is high-capacity data pipes for our customers. So, getting them lots and lots of data, lots and lots of content, UHD, 3D, remote production, multiple camera angles, you name it.
[ALEX RYDBERG] To be just a small part of bringing historical moments to audiences around the world is really the why in what we do.
[CHRIS WRIGHT] It's our passion and our greatest source of pride.
[ANDREAS ERIKSSON] Let us be part of your next special event.
