Telstra has announced that nominations for the 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards are now open.

The Awards program celebrates the innovation and creativity of Australian small and medium-sized businesses, and their role as a key driver of Australia’s economic success and social prosperity.

Stemming from the recent success of the inaugural 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards which saw more than 24,000 businesses nominated, the program demonstrates Telstra’s long-standing commitment to recognising the meaningful contributions of organisations and business leaders.

The Telstra Best of Business Awards features seven award categories which are celebrated at a state and national level, in addition to an overall national winner the categories cover a range of areas crucial to Australia’s outlook, and include:

  • Accelerating Women
  • Building Communities
  • Championing Health
  • Embracing Innovation
  • Indigenous Excellence
  • Outstanding Growth
  • Promoting Sustainability

Telstra Consumer and Small Business Group Executive, Michael Ackland, said The Telstra Best of Business Awards celebrate individuals and teams who are challenging the status quo for the betterment of the community.

“Small businesses truly are the engine room of our economy. They are unrelenting in their efforts and ambition to create positive outcomes for the communities they serve and in driving Australia forward,” Mr Ackland said.

“It’s never been more important to stop and recognise small businesses and the people behind them, for their unrivalled commitment to innovation and resilience. We’re thrilled to be able to do this through our Awards program.”

One of the national winners of the 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards, Pakko, is a true embodiment of the small business community the Awards aim to promote and support. Since 2017, the dedicated team of designers and packaging specialists at Pakko have created out-of-the-box packaging and produced custom solutions for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

Reflecting on her experience, Nina Nguyen, Founder and CEO at Pakko said the awards entry process had been hugely beneficial for her and her business.

"It really allows you to take a step back and put a microscope to what you’re doing, and ultimately helps you better understand your business. It’s opened new doors for us and helped create a platform for us to continue growing," Ms Nguyen said.

Founder and CEO of the 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards National Winner for Accelerating Women She’s A Crowd, Zoe Condliffe, said she had never expected to win.

"She’s A Crowd is a business focused on making cities safer for women and gender diverse people, as well as bridging the gap between survivors and legislators. Demonstrating strong social values and accelerating action against inequality, She’s A Crowd collects and maps crowdsourced data about women’s unsafe experiences.

“The process is intense, but it is well worth it for what you learn about yourself and your business along the way. I'm so glad we entered,” Ms Condliffe said.

All businesses under 200 employees are invited to nominate and enter across the seven categories. More information on how you can nominate for the 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards can be found by heading to the website today: www.telstrabestofbusinessawards.com
