Areas surrounding Millicent now able to connect to nbn

560 homes and businesses surrounding Millicent will now be able to access the nbn network via Fixed Wireless (FW) technology.   

Mark Bolton, Telstra’s Regional General Manager for South Australia, said the nbn network is one of the most talked about digital developments ever to hit Australia, and its arrival near Millicent will mark the beginning of a new digital era. 
 
“Individuals, communities and businesses are becoming increasingly digital-dependent. We’re streaming more video content than ever, uploading huge amounts of data and, by 2021 households are expected to own an average of 30 connected smart devices1.
 
“The rollout of the nbn network will help Telstra to support this surge in data demand and allow locals to make their households smarter and their businesses more efficient,” he said.
 
For households, the nbn rollout is set to accelerate the take up of locals using connected devices to help turn their households into smart homes. It means one of the kids will be able to stream Netflix on the tablet while another watches a movie on the Telstra TV, and the parents can be working online on the laptop, all at the same time with a reliable connection,” explains Mr Bolton.
 
“While many people still think of smart homes as futuristic or only for the rich and famous, the truth is they’re here right now and are helping locals make their day-to-day lives a little easier. With Telstra Smart Home, locals can check they’ve turned off the iron from their smartphone, get notified with a photo when the kids get home from school, or check in on the dog while they’re at work.” 
 
“With Telstra Smart Home, smart devices such as lights and plugs connect back to a central hub using your in-home Wi-Fi over the nbn. The hub then talks to an app on your smartphone or tablet so you can manage your home even when you’re not there,” Mr Bolton said.     “We want everybody in the Millicent area to be able to start benefitting from the nbn network as soon as possible. So, now is the time to speak to your chosen network provider about kick starting the switch on process.” 
 
Telstra has teams of dedicated nbn specialists online, on the phone and in-store who will be able to help customers to determine the plan or bundle best suited to their needs. 
 
“We also have teams on the ground to ensure that every member of the Millicent area community has the advice, support and confidence they need to get on board with the nbn network,” said Mr Bolton.
