  1. Set up Belong account.
  2. Order a free mobile SIM.
  3. Activate your SIM once you get it in the mail.
  4. Transfer your number making sure you have your date of birth ready if you are transferring from pre-paid or your account number from your Telstra bill if you are transferring from a post-paid or upfront mobile plan. A few checks take place to make sure it’s really you asking to transfer your number just enter the verification code. 
  5. Transferring your number can take a few hours or up to 36 hours if you are transferring your number on a Sunday or public holiday (don’t worry, your Telstra plan won’t stop working until you’re set up with Belong).
  6. Then you are all set! You don’t need to contact Telstra to cancel your number or anything of the sort, you are now rockin’ a Belong mobile plan.

There are a few differences when it comes to the network. Belong uses parts of Telstra’s network reaching more than 98.8% of the Australian population whereas Telstra’s covers 99.4% which is 1 million square kilometres more than any other mobile network. Make sure to check the coverage map before switching over to see if you’re covered. 

Simple answer is no! 

If you’re transferring your mobile number from Telstra over to Belong, as part of the sign-up process you’ll provide the number you’re going to transfer along with a few details like your data of birth or account number depending on what type of mobile service. We will send you a verification code to make sure it’s you, then it’s all taken care of.

If you’re transferring your nbn from Telstra over to Belong, because you are already connected to the nbn and you don’t require an appointment, it’s all done behind the scenes and nbn will make the necessary changes on their side to disconnect your Telstra nbn service for you when connected with Belong.

Yes. Belong offers a bring your own device option when signing up to any of their Belong nbn plans. Just make sure you select that option when going through check out. Just note that Belong doesn’t offer 4G back-up, so if you have a Smart Modem it won’t automatically switch over when there is an outage.
