How to make a Wi-Fi call from your iPhone
Our customers who experience in-building mobile blackspots will benefit from Wi-Fi calling technology available on iPhones from today.
The millions of Telstra customers who own an iPhone 6 or later can now make and receive mobile calls wherever there is an accessible Wi-Fi connection[i], including over home Wi-Fi and at more than 900,000 Telstra Air hotspots across Australia.
People with limited indoor coverage at home, including those living at the edge of Telstra’s expansive coverage footprint, can benefit from Wi-Fi calling, which seamlessly transfers calls between Telstra’s 4G network and Wi-Fi on iPhone – even while the call is in progress.
There are a number of environmental factors that can impact mobile coverage, like topography, building construction or geography. By investing in our network and extending Wi-Fi calling technology, we’re making mobile voice calls accessible in places even the best mobile network can’t reach.
To access Wi-Fi calling customers simply have to update their iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to the latest version of iOS, then go into their phone’s settings and turn on the feature.
