Helping climate research by collecting data with our phones

The Telstra Foundation has been partnering with Earthwatch on their ClimateWatch program for several years now, engaging Australians - including our Telstra team - to use their mobile phones in collecting data to aid climate research.

ClimateWatch is a community-based science program that enables every Australian to be involved in collecting and recording data via the ClimateWatch app to help shape our response to climate change in Australia.

Do you want to contribute to climate research?

You can be involved by collecting and recording data with the ClimateWatch app, too.

Data4Good blitz to validate collected data

Before data can be uploaded to the Atlas of Living Australia, to create a more detailed picture of Australia’s biodiversity, it has to be validated - and that's where we can help.

So, this June more than forty of our Telstra team members got together to repeat last year’s award winning Data4Good validation blitz. To learn more, you can watch the Climate Action Award Winner video with Telstra.

Our volunteers validated over 3,000 community data submissions for six of the most common flora and fauna species. Breaking last year’s record in an extraordinary effort that will help scientists, policy makers, environmental planners, land managers and industry to make informed decisions on our climate.
