We’ve taken a number of steps to support environmental sustainability onsite:
Onsite wastage plan: We’ve implemented a wastage plan that focuses on reducing both general and landfill waste. This includes providing guidelines to suppliers and exhibitors on what types of materials to avoid in their production and packaging; clearly separating waste onsite (organic, mixed, landfill and paper) to maximise recycling; reusing returned or unused lanyards; and minimising the use of plastic onsite.
Food management: All excess food from the event will be donated to Oz Harvest, and our menu is specially curated to focus on providing food that can be donated post-event. Our menu sources local ingredients that are certified free range to reduce the carbon footprint of long-distance deliveries.
Avoiding plastic water bottles: Plastic water bottles will not be distributed at the event, as we will be providing free tap water. Biodegradable cups are located at each water fountain and cooler, and delegates are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to refill throughout the event.
Environmentally friendly coffee carts: Biodegradable, compostable coffee cups will be available from all coffee carts onsite. Delegates are also encouraged to bring their own reusable cups and baristas will be happy to rinse your cup.
