Queensland businesses encouraged to back themselves and nominate for esteemed Telstra Business Awards

Monday 2 March 2020 – Nominations are now open for the 2020 Telstra Business Awards, the program that celebrates and recognises Australia’s most innovative small and medium businesses and not-for-profits, and helps propel them to greater heights.

A record-breaking number of nominations for Telstra’s Awards program were submitted in 2019. While self-nominations have risen slightly since 2018, a staggering 49% of small businesses don’t back themselves to self-nominate.

Telstra is encouraging Queensland businesses and social change makers to make the time and put their organisation in the spotlight in 2020 by nominating for the Awards.

Telstra Business Awards Ambassador and Group Executive, Telstra Consumer & Small Business, Michael Ackland, said Australian business owners should be celebrated for their efforts and encouraged them to back themselves.

“Australian business owners are the drivers of our economy. They are taking risks and leading us to the future through their hard work and commitment to innovation. Nominating for the Telstra Business Awards is a great way to acknowledge their successes and prove they are ‘that’ business,” Mr Ackland said.

Now in its 28th year, the Awards program showcase the best in business, but is also designed to help business people analyse, evaluate and improve their operations, and thrive in the future. Every entrant will receive a Personalised In-Depth Business Benchmark Report with professional insights, advice and guidance to help improve the future of their business.

Jonathan Dwayre, Managing Director of Orbitz Elevators, 2019 Telstra Queensland Business of the Year, said the Awards experience was a great way to put it into perspective and be proud of what the team have achieved.

“It’s a great way to really look back and recognise the incredible milestones that your business has achieved. It also allows you to express your business in fine detail and show it off to the world,” Mr Dwayre said.

“The Telstra Business Awards is a fantastic way to really scale your business to the next level. Just go for it, be confident and believe in what you are doing as a business and share it to the world."
