Profile

the presets

First taking shape in 2003, when Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes met at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The Presets were soon recognised for their ability to fuse electronic dance music and an energy akin to rock’n’roll, releasing two  EPs  and their debut album “Beams” with  Modular Recordings. Quickly cementing their status as mainstays of Australian dance music, their 2008 chart topping album “Apocalyspo” went triple platinum in Australia and set new standards for dance music.

Taking out 7 ARIA Awards, including the prized Album of the Year title, the pair won the J Award, FBi SMAC Album of the Year, as well as the coveted Songwriter of the Year award at the 2009 APRA Awards. In 2012 the duo released “Pacifica,” with its lead single “Ghosts” taking feature in Rolling Stone Magazine’s Song of the Year.

The album was nominated for an ARIA, shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize Award and J Award, and landed Album of the Year titles by the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph, as well as being named Electronic Album of the Year by Sydney Morning Herald.

Not only have the duo been making music together, individually the pair have collaborated with a stack of Australian and International acts. Julian co-wrote Flume’s 2016 hit “Say It” and contributions to tracks with Flight Facilities, Steve Angello and Meek Mill – not to mention Kim producing DMA’s yet-to-be-released sophomore album –and remixes created for The Drones and The Jezabels.

Conquering the world with their dynamic live performances, The Presets have played hundreds of shows domestically and internationally, including key slots at Glastonbury, Coachella, SXSW, Exit, Melt and Splendour in the Grass.

Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock.  Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.

With a schedule that includes six months each year on the road, Alice Cooper brings his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images.
